Default Xray XB4 4WD Shortie Conversion 2015??

Hi All,

Thought I would share pictures of my first conversion project, the only non standard parts I had to make was a new top deck and battery strap. If I get asked to make another one I will take a few mid project photos :-)

Only major issue I run into was that my ESC can't run in the opposite direction so had to flip the diff rounds, to make this work i had to mill the chassis which in itself was not hard but was not accounted for.

I'm a newbie at this stuff so I know my finish can be improved

:-D

I converted mine a month or so ago, ended up swapping the servo to the other side and putting the speedo where the servo was to get a good balance.

Looks nice and neat

Looks awesome. This is what Xray will do them selves for the 2015 version I bet. For both their cars. Good job!!!

That finish looks more than adequate to me. The ESC thing: wasn't it easier to just swap 2 leads on the moter? Unless your brushless moter came with a fixed physical timing built-in it will run as good in forward as in reverse direction.

Hi unfortunately I run a sensored brushless system and swapping x2 of the motor poles only works on a sensorless set up.

I have been away for a few weeks now but did run it for a club race before I went away. First impressions are very good, being lighter everything is far more responsive but by moving the weight to the rear the car has lost some of it front end bit. I'm planing to work on set up over the coming weeks while working on a 2wd version

Thanks for all the comments all and if you have any ideas I can incorporate or try out give me a shout, I'm new to this so am open to anyone's opinions

Duncan...

Some sensored systems do allow you to run 'counter clockwise' by selecting that option in the laptop software or set up box. Again mine didn't :-(
