Default Mardave Meteor

Anyone know where I can obtain a Mardave Meteor instruction manual.

I've tried the usual places like Competition X..etc but no luck at the moment.

Thanks in Advance
Steve

I could take a scan & e'mail it to you.... to be honest its less of an instruction manual - more a leaflet!

PM me your e'mail address....

Soooooo true! Basically a big block paragraph of text on how to build it with very few or no diagrams from memory...

I'll try & sort this out for you at lunchtime (I can use the scanner/copier here at work) But I don't think it will answer your queries regarding the bearings. The Meteor came as standard with only two ballraces - the pair in the gearbox that the diff runs on. Earlier Meteors had brass bushes in the rear hubs which could be replaced with ballraces - but later ones had hubs where the stub axle runs direct on the plastic of the hub!

Optional wheels were available with recesses to accept bearings (Early option three piece wheels seemed to take smaller bearings than the later one piece dish type which accept the same size bearing as Mardave Cobra wheels)

Extra bearings can be added into the gearbox - one inside the gearbox to carry the end of the intermediate gear shaft - the other end with a bearing inside the gear cover. There is also a ball raced version of the red spur gear that is recessed to accept a pair of small bearing - very hard to find this part!!

Default Thanks again

That's clear,

Bearing in the spur also, no recess in the spur that I have to take a bearing, might be able to bore something!

Looks like a good basis for a great build

I forgot to say that Schumacher still sell some of their old 2" dia tyres that fit the Meteor's red dish wheels - the block tread tyres work well on Astro turf

Default Meteor rebuild

Almost there, I'll post some pics soon,

Only need one battery box, has anyone got any spare that they want to sell?

I have a spare chassis, front end and steering set up, except front shocks if anyone needs for a rebuild.

Cheers
StevieG

I can probably help you with a battery box, as this seems to be turning in to a bit of a swap shop if anyone has any of the updates stub axles where the wheels hold on with nuts not clips I'm after some, especially the rears as the fronts aren't hard to make.

If you fancy swapping out those wide (white) front arms for a pair of the original style please let me know (best keep any possible further communication via PM )

The white wishbones were intended to be used for the narrowed front end of the long wheelbase chassis.... so would make the car too wide (for BRCA regs) if fitted to a car with the standard chassis. I'm building a Meteor based on one these LWB chassis ready for racing later this year, whilst I have a pair of arms to go on the car, having a couple of spares would/could be helpful.
