Looking at starting racing
Hi all,
Am looking at starting racing in the next couple of weeks but haven't raced for 20+years! Am just getting all my kit and cars ready but seen as though you guys are my local track (am in Bingley) had wondering how I go about it. Am not a good driver yet and worried about showing myself up etc lol. Any above on tyres, motor turns and setups etc would be greatly appreciated. I run a b44.1 and a b5m. I look forward to your replies and hopefully will see you all soon. Will

Come to meeting for the 10.30 start, we all help build track, then get out to practice whilst booking in commences. Heats start and you marshal after your race. normally 4-5 rounds, then finals. Club meeting are fairly relaxed, and all abilities welcome. Club hand-out transponders are available for racers without their own. Best starting with 2wd, pick an astro turf starting point setup, petiteRC.com is best place, and a few local racers run the B5M, so could help with setup tips. Motor wise, keep it fairly tame for starters. a 10.5 to 8.5 is a good starting point, more then enough power. its better to get round a bit slower without crashing, than to be the fastest car between crashes. Look forward to you coming to a meeting in the near future. As a side note, if you are in Bingley, there is a good local club that runs in Cullingworth village hall every other Friday. see 10electric club forum on here.

And speaking as one of the slower drivers who also came back 12m ago after a 30 year hiatus I can confirm that the club is very friendly and helpful and the new electrics (lipo batteries and 2.4g radio gear) makes everything so much easier.
Cully is also a great evening. See you down soon

Brilliant guys. I did know about the cullingworth club but the videos on youtube looked like it was quite a small track! All your info is much appreciated.
So you think I should just bring one car (b5m) and just concentrate on that? I've heard that before. better to learn with 2wd, pity I got b44.1 first. Just waiting for b5m to be delivered this week and once all electrics come to I will be there, probaby not this weekend (if ones on, eill check calendar ) next race after that. Cheers William Ps if anyone has a receiver for sale for a mt-4 am after one! Cheers

I don't run associated, but think b5m is metric (finally) while b44.1 is still imperial.
Have you got tools

I've got all tools for b44.1 but have a few tools so hopefully I will get away with It, fingers crossed.
Looking forward to coming.

My only advice would be "don't use imperial tools on metric fittings" some seem like they are similar size, but you invariably strip the heads or the tools
