fitting mamba to gb-01
quick question, what pinions are people using on a mamba motor/gb-01 setup
I was just trying to install it into the car but couldn't get the stock pinions onto the shaft. Do i need different pinions? or should i drill out the hole a bit to make it fit? didnt come with any motor screws either so i need to find some of them as well as the tamiya ones are the wrong size for it. ta |

Associated RC18 pinions works a treat. They are 2mm shaft and the correct pitch.
I run a 15T on a 5400kv motor with 7.4v or 15T on a 4100kv with 11.1v. |

yay, my bits arrived this morning, fitted a 12t rc18 pinion to the mamba 8000k/11.1 setup, been ragging around my shed...awesome!!
only problem is the gear cover doesn't fit on without binding the pinion. So ill have to drill a hole in it, unless there is a third party one with more room? still waiting for the 3racing shocks though, so its still in gerald mc boing boing mode. servo response is much better than i imagined, and i like the way you can turn it on and off from the top of the car. looking forward to making it race worthy, happy days ta |

Rather than drill a hole in the cover, use washers or a rubber o-ring between the cover and the gearbox so that it clears the pinion.

The problem for me is the holes do not line up at all to mount my mamba in my mini fox. How did you get yours to fit please?

When i fitted my Mamba i had to open one of the holes up a tiny bit on the motor plate.
If you look at the mounting holes on the motor, there are different distances, offer up the widest ones and you will see how much the plate holes have to be opened,it`s only a tad. |
