Default B7??

Hi guys

Been to Bally’s today I itch an XB2 17 and had a great day. I’m looking at doing the MEOR regionals next year and looking at 2WD options. XB2 and B6.1 are the two most viable options for me, but just wondered whether there was a B7 due as I’d rather not get a 6.1 and then a couple of months later a B7 come out

I don't think there is anything major to update on the B6.1, so I wouldn't expect a new platform unless marketing/corporate pushes that. Since they won the worlds, I would expect something alongside the 6.1DL, with (alu) option parts, perhaps a bit like in the B4-era. I think they released the B6-series in February 2016, the 6.1-series in February 2018... A sure bet is a February release I guess?

If I went the associated route, and could only afford either the 6.1 or 6.1D which is the better one to go for? Im a complete Novice at Buggys

Hi,

What are you going to be racing on. Dirt / carpet / astro.

The B6.1 is for high traction out of the box it has gear diff.
B6.1d is for lower traction, out of the box it has ball diff.

MiCk B. :-)

So you'd think maybe get the 6.1DL if I was going to get one then as its the high grip version? Maybe see about getting the standard gearbox as a spare?

As an outdoor car the DL is the current best option of the associated lineup.
No real need for alternative gearboxes, with a decent setup the car works v.well on all ME tracks dry or wet.

With the addition of a gear diff and a couple of option parts, v.good.
It's what I run at MB and a few other indoor venues.

The b6.1 has been out of stock for weeks if not months on the team associated website. The same thing happened when they replaced the B6 so wouldn't surprise me if it's on its way

AE HQ is moving premises hence the stock levels. (or so I'm told)
Although can categorically say that an update won't come, esp after the Worlds win, the expectation for that isn't imminent and as we've seen every time AE announce something they start with teasers for a few weeks and by the time the actual kit is available in the UK it's a few months down the line, so even if something got announced today, it wouldn't be actually available for a good while longer. But as I said a major update isn't expected anytime soon.

The 6.1 has more steering and the ability to carry more corner speed than the 17 XB2.
Had both, so can safely say that imo you'd enjoy the 6.1 more.
