Default steering link angle

Just building my S12-1M and got caught up in the bling factor at lhs which resulted in me leaving with the new spectrum servo (with removable lead).
Problem is it stops you fitting the shims behind servo enabling me to get my steering link at 90 degree to servo.
Does this matter, i.e. does it affect steering travel either way or give me a weird mechanical steering curve??!!
