I haven't broken one but I'm only driving on dirt. If you are landing on some really hard stuff, maybe you will just have to use tighter springs and or oil in the front to stop it hitting the ground so hard. Also I think if you re-enforce the area where it's breaking with some steel based epoxy, like JB weld maybe it'll be stronger

In the early days (March) me and my son, Max, kept breaking the plates also; I ended up knocking a couple of plates up out of 2 mm alloy (using hand tools ie hacksaw and hand drill.... bent in a vice) - not the most elegant of solutions but since then we haven't had a single breakage up front; Also added 26 gms up front that seems to help steering.

However - since then the newly designed has been produced - maybe that has more strength... Anybody else got any experience of that?

I broke 2 plates like you, and I put the last one I have few weeks ago. Not broke it so far, yes !

I'll do a reinforcement like Jezt did, with a alloy plate 1,5mm or 2mm to repaire my 2 broken plates.

There was a part upgrage with that (and most of the other parts that broke early on) My cars are fairly new and I haven't been able to break anything on any of them unless I crash at full speed into brick walls. So maybe the spares you are buying are old stock?. I noticed today Positronics front suspension carrier with the brass weight has grub scews to hold the front arm pins to remove any slop and the early ones of those did not

I drive mine quite hard..indoor's and grass, have not broken the front plate...

Could be bad luck with older parts maybe...

I've bent up a few skids, but never damaged the plate. Mine would be new stock, got it from HK few months ago.

5700kv, 2s, backfips...

i only bash... no racing... so i know there more likely to break... but i seem to get about 4 mins a run...

the cars a running joke with the guys i bash with...

i have the air control... its just when it gets into the air, it doesnt land well without a snap!

i bought the last pair 2 weeks ago... so i'm pretty sure there the upgrade design....

As I understood, the upgraded version looks different on the curved part. Which is supposed to brake. It has more reinforcement.

Bazzokajoe, I think you need a HPI truck , something that isn't a race buggy anyway

i like to know i could race if i wanted to tho

i've spoken to the team at T-bone-racing... there making up some bumpers and braces for ansmann cars at the moment... i've asked them to consider the problems i'm having and there gonna incorporate a full front skid plate into their bumper

but for the time being... i think a large part of the problem is the front bulk or "shock stay" i think its called... i may have stripped the screws out of the top of it... allowing the front end to flex and the chassis plate to break prematurely...

i'll get another pair of chassis plates and grab a bulk head at the weekend to see if it solves my problems

tbone make a good bumper, they make and extended one like you described for the tamiya df03 to reinforce the chassis. That would help for bashing for sure
