Default Thank You!!!

I would like to give a big thank you to everyone that helped me out today:
  • Dom - Thanks for bringing my cells
  • Paul Worsley - For getting me some cells to race my final(s) with
  • Brian Preddy - For giving me final 2 cells
  • Neil Oliver - For final 3 cells
  • AC Johnathon for charging my final 3 cells
  • Ken for switching my car on in the finals!
It made my life much easier, and I couldn't have done it without you...
My tires were shot by the end of the last final, the fronts were almost bald.

I am still unsure as to whether my Novak 6.5R Brushless has a sintered rotor in it? It has a smooth can, and the motor was red hot to the touch (I would not have wanted it ANY hotter after final 3). This was geared on 82/17. Is there anyone with another 6.5 Novak motor which they bought seperately which they know has a sintered rotor in it? I bought it as a package along with the speedo.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
If you turn the rear wheels, and you can feel slight notching from the motor - similar to a brushed but less, then it is sintered. if you turn the back wheels and it rolls very freely, almost like there is no motor in atall - thats bonded.

Sounds like it is bonded then to me, but I will just check and get back to you!

Cheers Chris, you seem to be helping me out a lot at the moment!

On the purple label, it has 6.5R on it, but it has the smooth can/endbell. It has a black timing ring, so it doesnt seem to match up to any of the descriptions given by Novak on their website....
It had a very slight notching feel to it, but the rear wheels turned very easily.... I am not sure now!! LOL

I have a spare sintered rotor as well. It might be worth trying it to compare....

I have a smooth can sintered motor and I know Dan Greenwood does too, so the ribbed = sintered phylosophy doesn't work im affraid. But if it is bonded, the arm will rotate very smoothly, whereas the sintered will be notchy/cogging - although sintered still does rotate much free-r than brushed - although the cogging/notchy is present.

Thanks Chris,

I think it must be a sintered then, since there was noticable notching on the motor.
As a guide, what would be you starting overall ratio on you X5, so I have a comparison to go from?

I ran my XX4 on 11.04:1 at Kidderminster, which translates to 82/17.

Thanks
Mark
