Default Show us your Cougar Laydown.

Just finished building the kit and the last coat of paint went on the shell this morning. I thought I would share a few photos with you all. I still have to tidy up the electrics and carry out some final adjustments.

Loving the build photos, I can see you have had some issues with the transmission by the looks of it.

How are you keeping the wiring so neat, do you have to shorten the servo/ESC cables to the receiver?

I have just wedged mine behind the servo at present but was hoping to use the space there for the transponder.

I'm under the impression the transmission case is supposed to bow out like that before it's screwed together, FWIW. I think it was Kyosho who started doing that. It ensures the tight fit of the two halves all the way around when screwed together. The case certainly fit together very well anyway.

Most of those pictures are of the first one I built for a mate. His had more play in the diff than mine, but it's been fine so far though.

The motor wires I just used the side holders as I didn't want them going over the motor. The servo wire had already been shortened, i need to do it a bit more. The ESC wire is kit length. I will shorten it once i know its all stay as it is now.

Its worth shortening them if you have to tool for it.

My shell is a penguin one and I spaced the shocks forward because I the shocks lean back a little and I wanted to straighten them up a touch. I have run the car and after a few setup changes it was good.

Love the paint scheme. Good to here the car ran well on astro. What did you find the car doing/not doing on grass?

I have seen a few posts with problems in the transmission area but to be fair mine seems fine after I fitted the extra shims due to me not reading the info on the packet.
I was thinking about shortening the wires but knowing my luck the servo or ESC will fail soon afterwards and I will have invalidated any warranty.
Looking forward to giving mine it's maiden run tomorrow night at our local indoor club.
