Sworkz BE1 weird noise
Hi
Finally got a motor and speed for the BE1. Fitted the motor and powered it all up, the drive train sound rather loud, disconnected the front and rear prop shafts and it seems like the noise is coming from the pinion/spur gears. They seem to be meshing okay and I have tried to adjust the gap between the two from loose to tight into the spur, however nothing I do gets rid of the rattling, nothing seems to be binding though. Is this just normal or am I missing something? Cheers Dave |

Was it converted from a nitro or is the main gear used?

If its steel / steel the noise will be high, if its Steel pinion / plastic spur, assuming all teeth are in good shape it should be pretty smooth. Id be inclied to look at the spur for any chips / notches that could be causing the noise..
Bare in mind 8th electric is inherantly noiser than 10th though.. |

It's a brand new be1 kit with plastic spur gear, it sounds almost like a loud rattle, like a cheap Chinese child's toy.
The centre diff seems nice and free running without binding but as soon as the motor is in place it doesn't feel right, could it be a defective spur? |

If the spur was defective (out of true or out of round) this would either be visible when rotated (true) or can be checked with mesh at different stages around the spur gear.
Not meaning to ask a dumb question, but the pinion is the correct pitch for the spur gear? All the diffs are correctly meshed also? Could just be driveshaft 'slap' in the cups that would normally be drowned out by a nitro engine. Without hearing it, it is gonna be a little difficult to diagnose. |
