Default 1:8 Vintage Kyosho's

Hi everyone,
it is great seeing such an active vintage thread!! Here are some pics of my restored 1:8 vintage Kyosho buggies (one pic per car). There are many more pictures on my flickr account, just click a link below one of the pictures.

With the exception of the Burns DX 4WD which I have had since I was in my late teens, all cars were bought in various conditions over the past 2-3 years and restored almost always to full factory spec or with period correct Kyosho, optional parts. With the exception of the two brushless conversions and one Turbo Inferno runner (not pictured), they are all shelf queens.

If anyone has any questions about restoring one of these or if you are looking for parts just let me know.

It's great that you guys are helping to preserve these old cars. Looking forward to seeing more of them soon!

Current collection:
1x Burns 2WD
1x Burns 4WD DX (which I have had since I was a teenager)
1x Burns 4WD DX (Brushless)
1x Turbo Burns
1x Turbo Burns (Brushless, full option)
1x USA-1 Nitro Crusher
1x Classic Inferno
1x Inferno DX
1x Inferno DXII
1x Turbo Inferno (factory setup and now fitted with full option parts)
1x Turbo Inferno (runner, no picture yet)
1x Inferno MP5 (full option)
1x Esprit 20 (not yet complete no picture yet)

Welshy, tell me more if you can? I have noticed previously on this forum and others you talk about the design of the Lazer tub chassis. The holes on this one match the Intruder so I assumed that is what it was msde for. Am I correct or should this be for a Lazer?

Interested to hear more please.

Thanks

Jamie

The carbon tub should indeed be for a Lazer, would you consider selling it?

Dilemma.

Firstly I have been asked previously if I would sell and promised that person if I ever did to contact them. Unfortunately I'm more of a buyer hoarder type than a seller but will keep you in mind if I ever did and the other person decided to purchase it.

So, the dilemma, I have a Lazer ZX which apparently has some ZXR bits. In all honesty I went through a phase recently of buying up cars and parts but really my interest is the Tomy Intruder plus variants, EX etc.

The tub chassis came with a load of parts I purchased, I believe the guy had run this chassis on a Tomy set up. Purely because has was Tomy mad like me. Obviously I could be well wrong but it just seems that's the way it is.

So do I build it up as a Tomy buggy or strip it back down and build it into a Lazer as it should be?

I think I am going to stick with the Tomy build, that way its probably pretty unique albeit incorrect in a way. Maybe if I had stuck with RC cars back in the day I would have built one like this back then.

I was going to sell my Lazer but will keep it now so at least I have the parts to build the chassis up correctly if my thought process changes.

I will post the finished build up in the next few weeks and you can all tell me what you think. I think it will look OK. Its something different.

Fair enough, I actually have one but yours looks in nicer condition and would be better to use for the shelter I am building with many rare vintage parts.
I do have other Lazer chassis too, original and carbon.
Out of curiosity could you take a pic of the underside?

Its plausible the chassis was for a lazer looking at your pictures, but the holes obviously were drilled to fit a tomy intruder, the mold for the tub chassis has no holes so once its been made by layers by hand its then put onto a cutting machine thats got a template cad design to follow so quite possible fibrelyte did this as per request. FYI if it says com com made it, then they bought from fibrelyte. Need to see the underside as well. Hope this makes sense.

Plausible I'm not just saying this as I want it to have been intended for an Intruder, although I obviously do I honestly think it was. Only because the guy literally had loads of Tomy bits and seems to have loved the cars as much as me.

These pics were taken before I started the build. At first I didn't know what car is was for but then looked at the holes and they match the Tomy perfectly. Fibre-lyte stickers top and bottom were there when sent to me.

Happy to hear your thoughts?
