Default Sky Toro and weird motor problem!?!

Hi All i have a sky Toro TS120 speed controller connected to a Thunder tiger 6.5t motor.

Now when I connect the sensor lead to the motor (and i've tried 3 different leads) and give it throttle the motor feels and sounds gritty, also if i give it full throttle it starts medium speed and after a second or two it winds up to max, instead of instant full throttle.

Now when I disconnect the sensor lead the motor runs smooth and on full throttle gets instantly up to speed.

Whats going on here??

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks all

I've had reliablity issues with sky speedos. Try another sensor cable if not send it back if it's still under warranty

I see you have already eliminated the sensor cable possibility.

Have you got a different motor you can try that you know is OK?
Or
Have you got another ESC you can connect the motor to and test if you get the same?

Either way you eliminate one of the components as being faulty possibly....

Try not to rev when the motor has no load. You can crack the rotor.

Have you calibrated the ESC to the Rx? If it's not calibrated, you can get some "odd" behaviour.

Have you checked what settings are set in the ESC?

Might be worth doing factory reset (and updating the firmware)?

if it runs ok in sensorless but not sensored and you have tried 3 sensor wires
it either sensor board in motor or phase issue in esc
easiest swop is motor if another known good motor doesn't cure fault it only leaves esc at fault

so i've tested the motor on a different esc and its fine so it looks like the esc, i'm going to see if I can restare it to factory settings tomorrow and see if that solves it.

Can you reverse the phases on a Toro in the settings? I had an Orca that did this, swapped rotation and all worked fine
