Thumbs up RCCAOI Irish National Championships 2012 - Official Thread

The 2012 RCCAOI 1/10 offroad section rep, Derek McCloskey, is delighted to announce the following details about this year's national championship.
Event dates and locations will be announced in the next couple of weeks.
  1. 4 round multi-venue championship with 3 rounds to count
  2. 2wd Mod, 4wd Mod, 2wd Clubman, 4wd Clubman classes
  3. Only drivers whom are fully paid up RCCAOI members by March 16th with be permitted to enter the championship classes.
  4. 2wd and 4wd will be on the same day
  5. Each event will have 4 rounds of round-by-round qualifying with your best 2 to count. 3 leg finals for all.
  6. Scoring will be based on your best two finals from three only.
  7. Entry fee per event will be 10 euro for 1 class, 15 euros for two classes.

Round 1 25/3/2012 Venue : Naul (DMCC)
Round 2 9/6/2012 Venue : Ballymena (NIMCC)
Round 3 12/8/2012 Venue : Navan (NNN)
Round 4 16/9/2012 Venue : to be confirmed - Naul or Griffeen Valley (DMCC)
Rerun date if needed 30/9/2012

Classes:
2wd mod & 4wd mod
2wd clubman & 4wd clubman (No Timing)- Which will be checked!
Open class if enough drivers

The open class is for non-association members who just want to race on the day. No results will be published for this class, and no awards given - it's purely just a run for those who want it. Any car, and motor.

Tyres:
Schumacher minispike & Ballistic buggy on drive axles.
Compound open.
2wd fronts open.

Entry:€10 per class or €15 for two.

Rccaoi membership forms available now on www.rccaoi.com to be completed and sent in before March 16th.
Not accepted on the day!

A list of participants will be published before round 1.

REMINDER: Your 10.00 euro membership fee and 5.00 euro class fee must be received with a completed membership by the RCCAOI Secretary or trackside to Derek McCloskey no later than March 16th (friday week)

Allow at least 3 days if sending by post
or
Derek will be at the Naul on this Sunday, at Fivemiletown on March 10th or at the Naul again on Sunday March 11th.

The list will be updated for the last time on the lead up to RCCAOI 1/10th Electric Offroad Round 1.

To get your name on this list, you must joint the RCCAOI and pay your class fee by March 16th 2012

Round 1 details;

Location: DMCC, The Naul, Co. Dublin
Date: 25th March 2012
Time: Doors open 9am, Track open 9.45am, Booking in closes 10.30am
Races: all races are 5 minutes, with 4 minutes from the end of race announcement to the start of the next race in sequence with an extended interval of 11 minutes at the end of each round.

Heats will be seeded as per last years championship results. New drivers will be added at random.
Format: 4 rounds of qualifying to BRCA round-by-round system with your best two rounds to count. 3-leg finals with your best two to count.

Heat #1 - 2wd Clubman "B"
Heat #2 - 2wd Modified "B"
Heat #3 - 2wd Modified "A"
Heat #4 - 2wd Clubman "A"
Heat #5 - Open "A"
Heat #6 - 4wd Modified "B"/4wd Clubman "A"

Round length: 70 minutes
Doors open - 0900hrs
Track open - 0945hrs
Track closed - 1045hrs

Finals 1 - 1540hrs

Important notes to competitors:
This is championship racing! - the meeting schedule will not be halted for any individual competitor.
Not being at your marshalling position before the 30 second race start warning will instantly result in a penalty.
The judges of fact, race director and race controllers will be announced at the drivers briefing.
Drivers not on the rostrum and/or without a car on the start line at the start of the race will be deemed to have not started the race. Drivers may not access the rostrum after the race start.
Any incident that contrevenes the RCCAOI rules should only be reported to the race director only. A competitor complaining to the race controller and/or judges of fact may result in that driver recieving a penalty themselves.

Race fees: 10 euro for 1 class, 15 euro for two classes. 5 euro per class for juniors. DMCC members who already pay the club a monthly fee are deemed to have already paid this race fee and no further monies are due.

Tyres: The contol tyre for all driven axles are Schumacher Minispikes and Balistic Buggy Spikes (all compounds).

Only the drivers below will be permitted to enter the championship classes of the RCCAOI 1/10th electric offroad series. All other drivers will only be permitted to enter the OPEN class.

NIMCC in Ballymena will host, for the first time, a round of the 1/10th Electric Offroad Championship this Saturday on its purpose built Astroturf track behind the Ecos Centre in Ballymena.
The venue, which has successfully hosted many 1/8th national rounds, offers a very rewarding track to race on which can be very high grip in the dry and very low grip in the wet.
Mark Penney and Derek McCloskey lead the 2wd and 4wd modified championships going into round 2 whilst Ivan Thomson and Lee McGuire lead the respective clubman championships.

Hello Racers!

Round 3 of the RCCAOI National Championship is taking place on Sunday August 12th at Navan Nitro Nuts Circuit in Navan, Co. Meath.

There is practice this sunday (5th August) as part of Navan's summer series from 9.30am. After that, the track will be closed to drivers regitered for the championship till the start of the national the follwoing week.

Direction, timetable, and news will be posted by early next week.
As usual, the event will consist of 4 rounds of qualifying and 3 finals for all. Non-registered competitors can race in the open class as usual also.
