I run 23*76 indoors as default on a 7.5 Ballistic which is what I would run 90% of the time at any track, I always seem to go 2 teeth up and down for a 6.5 (which I always remove after 1 run) or an 8.5. That said I'm going to try another tooth on this when we go outdoors.

Hi,
I have the same effect with my LRP X 12 6,5 Octawind. Spur 78, pinions from 17 to 20 tested, sure the temp of motor after 6min is from 60 to 85 °Celsius. Fact is, that we can not compare the temp of an rear motor buggy- its opened to fresh air. So comparing to an 4WD buggy motor, the operation temp is more close in the X6sq. What helps is to drill few holes in the bodyshell and put a small fan on the battery strap to increase the ventilation. I can not imagine the temp of my motor, if I go over 20 teeth pinion on our indoor carpet track- semi tight, extreme grip- but sure, will melt down. cheers
