i ran the losi last sunday. i used have a shark with a nosram evo speedo running a 13.5 mongoose motor. I fitted the dynamite fuze speedo to the losi on the kit motor, and it was easy same speed as the shark was. But the advantage was the motor wasn't no where near the temps the mongoose got. thats good news as the shark used to get hot on my 49/10 gearing.

I don't understand all these comparisons of "speed" - as speed is totally relative to the motor you're running (and gearing), and motor temp is totally relative to the gearing you've installed in the car (any car).

At Telford I ran a Dynamite Fuze speedo with the kit (4500kV) motor. For the relatively long straight I felt the car was marginally underpowered. I have a 6000kV motor to try next time though...

I ran a box standard Mini 8ight fresh from the box last week at our club (even with the supplied Nimh battery) and I set the second fastest time of the whole night (including the 1/10th 2wd and 4wd buggy classes), it was superb in all aspects and certianly not too slow.....

This week however it does have an LRP Nexxt ESC and Vampire 1800mah 30C LIPO battery but the motor has been kept in.

In std form the setup seems fine, the issue is with using smaller diameter Schumacher rally block tyres, I would say the motor needs gearing up at least 2 teeth on the pinion .....

Yes and yes. Other motors will vary, but the Horizon/Carisma motor has a 2mm shaft.

You can go for either the Carisma/Losi range, but it's not a full 1 tooth increment unfortunately. You could also opt for AE RC18 or Robinson Racing as this will give you enough options to get a full set if required.

Look like they should do the job. Just check if they're alloy or steel? Alloy pinions on a big heavy 1/16th will last you about 3 meetings before they are seriously worn.

One Question from me to all Mini 8ight owners.
Could please someone tell me the size of the standard Tires?
I'd need to know the outer diameter and the width of both, the front and the rear tire.
Cheers,
Ron
