Default New to 1/8th! What do I NEED!

Hey Guys,

I come from 1/10 so not a total newbie!

But 1/8th Nitro is new on me, I have had a nitro car that I bashed around when I was younger, But thats it.

I have just bought a Durango DNX408 with a Lutz Alpha engine & pipe.
I have a Savox 1258 TG servo. I have all the radio gear too, But thats it.

What do I need to buy! Obviously il need some fuel, Whats best?
Start Box, Again whats best?

I'm also going to be racing around the northwest.
I know there is a club in Preston, But what other clubs are local?

Hi Mate

PRCC (my own club) are racing tomorrow (Sunday 11th Nov), if you fancy coming down you will be very welcome.

Should you decide to come and race at PRCC, don't forget to print-off some £5.00 Race Vouchers from our homepage which are redeemable on your first 3 visits only (normal race fee for non-members is £10).

www.prcc.co.uk

If you want to have a chat, give me a bell on 07775 823812.

Starter boxes
Defo SMD

Fuel
I'm using Werks 'Race Blend' 25% at the moment as supplied by JC Racing Products, sponsors of our Winter Championship, it's really good stuff.

A lot of the guys at our club run Byron Gen2 and a few are giving RB fuel a go. Just make sure that you get a race blend rather than an RTR fuel.

A folding table on which to pit on, and if you can run to it, some sort of shelter/gazebo etc. But, to be honest, the guys that go racing are really friendly so if the weather is not too good, I'm sure you will find a space to pit undercover with someone else.

You will also need a Transponder fitted to your buggy so as to register laptimes, most clubs have some that can be borrowed on the day although you may need to return them between heats for others to use. Ideally, a personal transponder (PT) is the way to go as it is permanently fitted in your buggy, no need to keep returning it etc.

Northwest Clubs (1/8 RallyX)

PRCC (Preston Radio Car Club) - www.prcc.co.uk
NNRC (Northern Nitro Radio Club) - http://www.nnrc.info/
PDMCC (Pendle & District Model Car Club) - http://www.pdmcc.co.uk/

There is also Stoke Nitro Racing Club (http://www.stoke-nitro.co.uk/) and Wakefield (http://www.mmrx-wakefield.co.uk/) if you fancy travelling a bit further.

Thanks man, I don't have the car until next week.

I'm coming from 1/10th so I have all the pit gear, Table etc...
It's just the nitro side of thing I'm new too!

Do you race all through winter outdoors?
1/10 is a little quiet this time of year!

Also in winter having an engine heater really helps in starting and prolonging the life of the engine. Less strain on the starter box as well.
