Default New Buggy club - Newcastle - Friday night

On Friday 6th August, a new racing venue will open in the North East.
Benfield School, Newcastle, will host racing on a Friday night.
Club times 6pm - 10:30pm
6pm - 7pm will be setting up the club.
7pm onwards will be racing.

There are two halls on the site. Initially, the smaller hall will be used, but if a good number of racers turn up, a very big hall will be used for racing. so Let's all support this new racing venue.
Organised by Mick Buckle, Gordon and Ross...let's show our support.

Default friday night racing

WELCOME TO GATESHEAD MODEL CAR CLUB .

Which now has a new venue at Benfield school Newcastle and is under new management.
(and on that point we wish to thank John and Sandra Flamson for all their hard work with the club over the years.)

(The 1st night of racing will be held on Friday the 6th August and will be on every Friday after.)

Racing will remain on a Friday evening with a slightly new time.

6.15 -- Doors open / track building.
6.45 -- Race Practice.
7.15 -- Racing / round one.
7.45 -- Racing / round two.
8.15 -- Racing / round three.
8.45 -- Racing / round four.
9.15 -- Finals.
10.00 -- Clear away.
10.30 -- need to out of hall.

The hall/ gym we are using has a polished wood floor.
There is ample room for pitting but with limited tables, chairs and power points. So if you have your own table chairs and car battery feel free to bring them along.

As before the club will mainly run as a 1/10th buggy club. But will run touring car heats depending on numbers.
We will also be looking to try and run 6 or 7 mins heats depending on popularity.

We would appreciate as much help as possible with the building and packing away of the track. We understand due to work and other commitments getting there early may be difficult. so all we ask if you can do your bit to help.

The place is really easy to find and has ample secure parking.
( car park is located behind the school just off cherrywood)

Mint, it's got to be a friday night so we can pack up and go out round the town straight after racing. Maybe clubbing and then home.

Well we have had our first nights racing and the club was very pleased with the turnout of 13 racers in total, significantly more than we had expected and had been used to at Gateshead. Thank you all for turning up and having patience when we had our teething problems.

The teething problems were expected to some degree and I must admit I was very pleased with everybodies attitude and response when requested to help solve the issues. The positive side to this is the next time we should reduce the number of problems as most people now know what to expect and are learning how to set the computer up week by week.

The racing was very close and the final postions from both finals are below.

A final
1. Gregg Williams
2. Ross Murray
3. Paul Hindson
4. Peter Craig
5. Mike Buckle
6. Jonathan Clark

B Final
1. Gordon Irvine
2. Nigel Johnson
3. Chris Haves
4. Ellis Carrick
5. Michael Auton
6. David Walker
7. Ryan Harrison

Once again thank you for coming and hope to see you again next week.

Please feel free to PM with your thoughts on how the club can be improved if you so wish. From the feedback recieved the club would aim to take on board the thoughts and opinions to continually improve the club and cement its future.

Thanks

Ross

Teething troubles with computer system did nothing to spoil a good night, good work by all those involved in setting up this new venue, good to see some different faces there, a vast improvement over our previous venue, deffo worth a look for anybody wanting to race in the newcastle area.

I might try to pop along next Friday night,,,,, I am new to buggy racing but willing to give it a go, I have a table to use but only one set of lipo saddles for my b44 so would need a power outlet for my charger.

I am unable to lift/bend etc to set up or Marshall so hope thus won't be too much of a trouble to everyone.

What is the preferred tyre for the surface at the venue.

Carole

I can assure you there will be power for charging as most people need to charge between races.

The club understand and accept not all members can marshall providing a valid reason is given. There will always be somebody to step in for your marshalling duties so there is no need to worry and there is a multitude of skill levels at the club so no doubt you will have somebody to race against.

Look forward to seeing you

Thanks and Regards

Ross

yes a very enjoyable nights racing. the track was a good size and made for so close racing. cant wait till next Friday.

( yellow tyres work the best, mini pins, mini spike or full spikes)

It was once again a good night's racing with some close battles in both qualifying and the finals, we also reduced the number of teething problems and as a result managed to get 4 rounds of qualifying and the finals.

Numbers were down but this was to be expected due to some regulars being on holiday and having working commitments.

The results from the finals were as follows: -

A Final (2WD)
1. Gordon Irvine (Fastest Lap)
2. Paul Carr
3. David Walker

A Final (4WD)
1. Ross Murray
2. Chris Green
3. Paul Hindson (Fastest Lap)
4. Michael Auton

Thank you all for your support

Ross
