Look, we know this is just a warning so we won't be shocked when you turn up to the next Bury indoors in a pink fluffy tutu.

But you need not have bothered.

Considering its you we wouldn't have been surprised at all.......

Default swan lake

think we need a DRAG strip at this track for all you tutu lovers.

and yeah if it needs fencing off ( wood possibly) i see the need .especially for no bikes/toddellers/drunk chavs/8th scales/ dogs ect. can get input from a skate park desighner / builder who builds the countrys top sk8 parks and wants to start racing and is happy to put input in . he can desighn and model in 3d ect. and shape concrete ( for berms ect) and i will paint whatever needs tarting wi abit o help from team hopeless. how long will it be out of action when its being rebuilt will it be done over winter or will it skip a season.

Watched the vid and whilst I do like the track and can see how the hoses link up the sections I suspect that a track like that would not be in the current best interests of the club. Its a little too challenging or to put it another way, not very novice friendly.
Remember that currently Bury outdoors is based around a core group of about 12 regulars, virtually none of whom were members this time last year. We are very much in the recruitment phase and need to encourage more people to join. There are about a half dozen good potentials waiting got the outdoor season to start - with about the same number of possibles. Whilst that might sound like a small number, that could double our regular weekly membership - which ought to be more important to the club at this time than hosting an awesome round of the NW region!
The last, much less technical indoor track was much better received by drivers of all ability levels than the previous obstacle courses because whilst it still took skill to be fast, everyone could at least put in clean laps. Anything more demanding than say Southport is a bad idea. Southport manages about the right balance of beginner friendly but national challenge in the same track. Obviously being so close to Sotuhport we can't just copy them, we will have to different enough to be distinct, but going overly technical isn't going to help the club.

i agree with Nick,
Bury is of a racing heritage and needs to continue its high standard and become a national track again, like it should be!!!

Mike, very well put, I've been reading this thread the last couple of days with interest and didn't know how to say what you did so nicely!!

I raced at Goshen on it's very first meeting (1993???) and as a 'novice' I loved the challenge. If you guys want to build a snooring car track then it will be a harder to attract people. It's fair to say the club need to discuss what types of events they would be willing to host and go from there.

I would certainly dedicate more time to race at Bury if my racing calendar wasn't so full, but by building an 'easy' track it would put me off IF I had spare time.

RHR is certinly the benchmark to build tracks on, it's so easy to drive (despite what the video looks like)

Don't be put off by jumps, it is Off-Road!!

The uncertainty of the track with the gym fire has killed the racing off. Once the track was a national track and a track for 2 regions.

Entering events like theese builds up the week in and week out racing numbers as people want to come and practice there.

With the track certainty being settled later today hopefully we can then focus on the future of the club.

Keep this thread for ideas that Roger / Stu can put forward to the council that will help the club.

I for one would like to race at Bury every week with competition there like the "good old days"

Sorry Mike but the accounts say otherwise.

Default Core members

It's simple no core members no bury metro!! That's it top and bottom . So who do you think the club needs to keep intrested people who only turn up occaisionally or the week in week out lads? The club membership is growing at the moment most total novices. While the longer serving club members are away all the time doing regionals or nationals which you can't blame them for at all. I am below novice standard and have no intrest in regionals but I attend every meeting for the enjoyment and having a laugh with all the lads.in 3 years I might be better and race regionals so attend bury a lot less that's when the next bunch of novices will turn up and have a laugh. The club needs attendance every meet you regional boys don't have time we do !!!
