I don't think there is anything hotshot2 - it's hotshot all the way except where they needed to improve it, drive shafts, inside shocks etc..
I fancy racing one at Nationals, I think we should all get one.

The car might use the top half of the Hotshot 2 chassis as it has the little hatch - as can be seen on my car:

The only problem with that car is that I'll have to buy 'Stick packs'

Buy? If you review it you know who to ask... Not sure if IB's will fit in the slot though, they might be too snug. Sanyo 2400 would fit though.

That is a hot shot II cover. I used to have one, they fitted it so the magic smoke had an escape route when my Futaba MC112B ESC used to give up...

The rerelease uses Hotshot 2 chassis (so there's the hatch) and also the HS2 front uprights. The original Hotshot uprights are also included on the damper sprue, which they include a spare set so you can replace them when they inevitably break.

Modern side by side packs should fit, after all the hump pack it was designed for was a side by side pack inside a moulded plastic box.

There are a lot of differences between the rerelease and the original. There is the obvious different propshaft and driveshafts, and different shock metal parts, but there are a lot of subtle differences.

Rear upper arms are now reinforced, so less chance of those breaking.

New kingpins with hex drive head instead of screw slot. By not having a sharp edge to grind away at the ball cup it should keep the slop down to the standard built in slop.

E clips to hold the diff cups in place instead of those little C clips, which once you got them on were virtually impossible to remove again.

Wing mount has an extra vertical strut under it, so it is properly supported now.

Thanks for that Terry
I don't fancy the Idea of using my racing packs as they would just fall apart in there with the first crash - but I guess if you cover side-by-side packs in a strong heat shrink they should be OK. I might have to talk to Neil though it seems
