F1 asphalt setup
Tried playing with my VBC F1 car today on an asphalt track and it was very difficult to drive. It is set up (tyres/motor) to BRCA spec. Has anyone ran F1 outdoors and if so, what are the best tyres/additive/setup tips?

Hi,
Regarding setup on F1 the tyres are the most important thing, which tyres were you using? 2017 outdoor tyre has not yet been published. If you were using GRPs, or Rides you are suffering something normal due track temperatures. GRPs are for indoor racing, outdoors the rears give no grip, fronts are ok. Ride XR with low temperatures are a bit tricky and they tend to oversteer a lot. Additive in UK tracks MR33 and warmers for 20 min between 60C and 70C Set up wise, it depends a lot of the car, but some guidelines Front, ride height 5.00mm. lube on the kingpins (3k) 0.5 toe out and 1.5-2.0 camber. Caster around 9. A medium, medium-soft spring should work. Centre. Ride height 5.2 mm. 30k lube on side tubes. Soft centre shock with a soft centre spring to help rear traction. Side springs medium, medium-hard. A harder side spring will give more initial steering. Rear Ride height 5.5 mm. A loose differential will help you to gain some traction, but too loose and the car will not accelerate properly. Best regards Javier |
