I reckon there is a major gap in the market there for repairing/refurbing older RC2 or RC3 decoders. This has to be easier than making a whole new decoder and its not copyright infringement as its still an AMB/Mylaps product.
That said, not a big market. Decoder boxes don't fail often and we aren't always the kindest of users......

So what exactly do they do for £450?
take out a component that costs a few pence replace for another costing a few pence,total time of maybe 15 minutes.at an hourly charge of (give or take a coffee or two,) ???

Face it racers they got you by the balls and YOU aint doing anything about it!!

Its time somebody put forward an alternative to the mylaps system.

Those would be the handout AMB/Mylaps no longer supports so when they die they can't be replaced......

Fewer and fewer clubs left with handouts now. Mylaps want us all to use PT's Some places have tried to remedy this by getting a set of club 'loaner PT's' - unfortunately these are MRT's so if their box needs repairing and gets 'upgraded' to RC4 that won't work either.

We have two sets of handouts that work perfectly - yes the batteries go, but they can be replaced quite easily.

I can't remember - was there all this fuss when AMB/Mylaps first came in, then the clubs had to purchase the transponders or when it went from Analogue to Digital?

No although I do remember is people wanting them clubs to spend the cash to upgrade so that they could use personal transponders.

really,

Certain sections within the BRCA will upgrade but this will not have any impact on the racers, the only foreseeable issues will be where a driver has the new Purcy and expects to by counted by an earlier decoder.

think someone has forgotten that a lot of people use the MRT PT

Think the main issue is who the feck thought up the name 'Purcy', talk about a crap name!!

All amb will work, harry is the small one that you need a black clip, and two wires, purcy is the new one that can have up to 7 pts with the same number and has 3 wires, purcy only works on rc4.

mrt will work, but may miss laps, the better the race director the more hits mrt will get.

Mark - to me, the definition of "will work" does not include "miss laps". You and I both know that if it misses laps, it's no use to man nor beast.

My point being they do count, and has anyone done an independent test and tweaked the loop to get the most from them. Agree no good if they miss, but it is being worked on.
