Default Where was everyone?

We had a great time last night at Bury, well I say we, I mean the 11 racers which turned up. We had 3 rounds and a final and some good close racing.

Last week we had 29 and with better weather this week I thought 40 odd for sure.

So all the people who said they'd support a mid week meeting we need to use this or lose it.

Barry, who does a great job on race control was slightly miffed with the turn out so if he doesn't think its worthwhile it won't happen.

I know everyone can't make every meeting but a Wednesday night meeting in 20 degree sunshine, does it get any better?

12 actually but mute point. Think the World Cup has made a difference to be honest.

From my point of view I didn't even know racing was on last night, at least not until I checked the FB page early afternoon. I did mention the fact nothing was posted within the oOple sub-forum (Like all of the other previous meetings have been) to Gav, but he said that the meeting's will be on every Wednesday (Weather permitting).

Some people may know that, but I didn't and plenty of other guys probably don't either, so it either need's to be made clear that Wednesday night's racing IS on EVERY Wednesday until further notice OR new threads have to be put up to at least indicate that it will be. There isn't even any information regarding Wednesday's in the club information thread!

At the end of the day it's the clubs responsibility to promote racing, people aren't going to bother to turn up on the off chance that racing is on if they don't know about it, we all lead busy lives and few of us can waste an evening on the premise that racing might be on.

Like I said last night yes maybe I should've posted on oople but like I said it's on every week. I made that pretty clear people shouldn't need spoon feeding, but if that's what I new to do i will. You'll all be soon sick of the advertising! Ha

A fair point well made,

I'm sure Gav could add a thread each Sunday evening or by Monday latest to remind people. I know there is a thread which says racing every Wednesday but a reminder doesn't hurt.

I will send an email out if needed too, but we as a club don't want to keep spamming inbox's week in week out.

Talking

I couldn't be there as I'm suffering with tonsillitis.

I have said before taffy for Wednesday night racing a booking in list should be started on Oople to give us a good guide and keeps the forum moving on oople. Generally we end up with around twice the number who book In on Oople.

With England playing today many may want to go out for that so may not have been "allowed" to go racing aswell.

The promotion/reminders this week have been a lot slower which could be something to do with it.

In terms of a booking in list we need to ask people to confirm interest and if the minimum number isn't reached we don't run.

Chris as I've already told you, there is no point booking in! It's a mid week fun night and the main reason any club pre books is fear of not having enough space I.e alot pre book indoor where time is limited or regionals where demand is very high

Yes Gavin but if you have a list you know how many are due to come and if the number is too low you can cancel meaning Barry doesn't waste his time.

If not a booking in list per se send people an email so people can return a simple yea/no answer to get an idea.

Yes Chris but that's in an ideal world where everyone books in! Many do not

Chris/Gav,

I take both your points, but I agree with Chris a list where people can show some intent to race, even if it isn't booking in as such.

It could even prompt others to attend. If they see their mates going or someone they enjoy racing against or whatever.

Your both right as well, I wasn't considering the world cup and although England weren't playing last night, they are tonight and whilst it may not be a case we aren't allowed out twice, we all know us racers are a hardy bunch and certainly wear the trousers, it is true to say our better halves tell us which pair so you may have a point.

Hopefully it was a one off and we can look forward to normal numbers next week.

Yeah as I suspected really, just an unfortunate number of people couldn't make it.
