Default re-creating the mid motor XXX-CR

I have a bunch of XXX-CR cars and have been running some carpet indoor for fun I decided to build a mid motor car. The car is based from a psi converted car but with some tweaks. I think I will make another with the same wheelbase as the 22 just for fun. I even machined the 4 gear tranny.
Tell me what you think.

Looks awesome! What material is it you used for the casing?

Looking by the layout you made I bet this conversion is not just nice for indoor running... It could work very well on astro and clay too without too much weight added to the rear!

Thanks, the transmission cases are milled out of Delrin 100. I think the next chassis will be +15.

I had a PSI losi xxx cr and loved it. People said the top deck was a weak point but I never had any problems.

I even had the same 4 gear transmition as you have, think it was one of only a handful that made it over to the UK from PSI.

Regards
Gareth

Just a bit of history on the PSI LMX. I got the first one. They originally had an external idler, followed shortly by the new gear box that was much better. They were awesome on dirt, but on carpet the stock top deck had so much flex people were breaking them. I made a custom double thinkness one for carpet use. With the carbon top deck theres cars should be very fast on carpet. As for the number of tranny cases made, I was told is was in the ball park of 250 in total, about 180 for the ball diff, the rest for the gear diff. More tranny cases then kits were sold. Lots went to the UK, and as far as I know, me and another PSI sponsered driver may of been the only ones with LMX's in Canada.

Seriously, that is good. You have a skill for doing that work and why not if you have the gear spare. Top job !

Thanks for the comment guys. I raced it for the first time over the weekend and the car did great(better than its driver). I am still figuring out the setup but it is better than the stock xxx-cr in my opinion. My buddy I race with is ready to sell his 22.
