Hmm, Cov weather ....despite being freezing cold in the morning, it got hot enough to get sunburnt later....
Big thanks to Neil Oliver for lending me his car when my speedo broke just before the final. Neil - you should have used greens all day instead of yellows Ian |

First outing with the new Kyosho zx-5 FS.
Used mostly out of the box settings and did not have a great qualifying. I can see with the right tweaks here and there this car had the potential it just finding it. Enjoyed the racing but the track was OK. Some section i just could not get the hang of. The back section seems to spring to mind there where just to many lumps and bumps for my car. But then thats the nature of off road racing if we had a flat track it would be called touring car. Weather was great after freezing my fingers in the morning. All in all a good day out with car hope to put in some time at my local track and see if i can tweak her to get some better lap times for ledbuy in 4 weeks. Thanks GUYS for making a noob to regionals welcome.

thanks to the team at coventry for a well run meeting yesterday. first time at a regional, and enjoyed it, even if our heat did get held for what felt like an age, we were kept informed all the way through what was happening. top job race director!
cant say i enjoyed the track though, great layout and excellent jumps but wasnt overly flat in the flat bits!! where can i find the results from yesterday?

Have to say, The track was a lot better than I thought it would be.
Okay so there are a few places where a bit of maintenance is needed and there are big holes in the astroturf which need filling and upset the car if you were unlucky, but the worst ones in the far corner of the track were avoided by the track layout. Being forced to add 100g of lead to a 2wd to meet 4wd weight limits helped calm the car down on the bumps significantly. Only track feature I really really didn't like was the hump 3/4 of the way down the straight. I don't see that it really adds a lot to the track, and if you get it wrong the accident is invariably a big one. (I got it wrong number of times.) Not entirely sure how it complies with BRCA rule 14.7 either. Other than that and a slight case of sunburn, an enjoyable meeting though. |

14.7 The straight for starting finals, will be a minimum of 20 metres long, with no obstructions, including any form of jump, sudden rise or fall. Wise man, much respecto!!! Jon |

I thought that meant that the 20m section where the cars grid up at 2m intervals should not have the rise or fall.. the coventry hump is beyond the pole position.. but my interpretation might be wrong!

Personally I thought the tweaks to the layout yesterday on the right side of the track were really cool, but I fully accept that Coventry is a bit of a marmite track for many (you love or you hate it) but at least there is no home advantage there, it remains a fresh challenge whenever we go! Thanks to all the team at Coventry for their support on the day.

Thanks to all who made the meeting happen and run well.
I have to say that I really struggled to see the far right of the track well enough to be able to drive around all the "features" but hey, guess that is equally true for all. Sunday was my worst days racing since the mid 80s, I can not remember the last time I DNF'd every round and the final (and practice ..... twice with 2 cars in the same 5 min session!). Hopefully that is all my bad luck out of the way for the whole season now! Only good thing is that the ZX5-FS was running really well when it was running so at least I have something to build on. Just out of interest, how many people managed to go the whole day without breaking their car??? Guessing that will be a shorter reply list asking the opposite question. |

Actual roger my fs did not break a single bit just goes to show how well they are built and thats an achive ment for me because when i was running my rb5 i broke somthing every 5 mins.
Roger i know you did not get to realy race but do you have the setup that you where running before for DNFed
