Default micro for home garden track

as per the title, I'm looking for advise on which micro would work best in a back garden grass surface pravtIce sItuaIon, ideally 2wd.

it should be entertainingly quick but not obscene as the longest straight I can manage would be 12 metres.

the grass is pretty short but quite bumpy. I've tried my brushless micro sct out there and the poor thing just can't cope, though it's awesome in my new lounge!

are there any 1/18th scale buggies that I should be looking at for this?

Not a 2wd as such but the Losi mini 8 answers all your questions here.
Otherwise I think that there are some 14th or 1/16ty scale short course trucks out there

I may be a bit biased but for 2wd back garden fun the TamTechs fit the bill perfectly. Cheap second hand ones can be found and they are transformed with a set of oil shocks and a tuned motor or brushless set up. Spares are pennies and they are tough as old boots especially if you go for the GB02 front end.
Check out Jimmy's reports on the Frog and Buggy Champ and see what you think.

Just hire a roller and flatten the grass. Problem solved

Or lay some astro, You can tell the misses it's fashionable, all the celebs are doing it.

If the track is only for you on your own don't forget you can use the same bits of track twice or more on one lap. It's surprising what you can fit into a small space when you really use your head.

We used 1:10 2WD buggy on a short garden track. With 13.5T BL and short gearing it was plenty of fun. Guess our straight wasn't that much longer than your 12m.

Pics here

Wooden Table and Jumps can be moved easily, also it's a fun way removing moss

Another advantage is you can then sell the mower and with the cash buy more r/c stuff.

I like having enough garden to justify having a petrol mower

thanks for the advice guys - it looks like the cheapest option would be to stick a mild motor in my 210 and come up with a track design with lots of crossovers

... or get a tam tech gear frog, or mini 8ight - or spend a few quid on those interlocking floor mats.

the total area is 12m x 8, not including 2x4 of patio and a possible long radius corner around a 'water feature' that doesn't work anyway.

to be honest, I'm very tempted by the frog but I can't find one new.

imagine having the gardens everyone seems to have in the states...
