Love the mid-motor Cobra but it's just a crying shame that you are all soooo far away!

How about an annual Cobra Festival?

Mine is on the shelf gathering dust. I did think of putting one of my gearboxes for the TC02C in it to make it mid-motor but just how much Cobra would be left!?

Unfortunately the mid motor cobra had to be put aside as I made an error drilling the chassis. If I can find another chassis and gearbox case I'll continue with it. Maybe a one make mardave cobra series with people signing up for it in advance would convince Chris wilkinson to re release the car. Lol

I have a spare yellow chassis if you want.

Cobra-Fest would be a go-er I reckon.

Never mind letting it gather dust on the shelf Clive, they're more adept at
gathering(and raising)dust on the track

On the subject of how much Cobra is left,in the case of Adey's Fibre-Lyte
little number, just body shell and wheels.

Mine is only Cobra in bodyshell, wing, modded chassis and battery holders.
The rest is Ansmann,Team Associated,Tamiya,JC Racing or homegrown.
The only other Mardave bits are Meteor rear arms, rear uprights, drive shafts
and the rear suspension hangers are cut from a Cobra gearbox.

The rest of it?,we're talking a MadRat gearbox,RC10B3 front end,Durga steering rack,homegrown
front chassis brace and rear suspension tower with OHG front/Traxxas rear shocks,RPM ballends/turnbuckles
and Schmacher balls.

It's worth remembering that the cobras that were used in competition back in the day were far from standard. Many used traxxas trx1 shocks and Rc10 gearboxes ect. I maybe wrong but I think Steve poles was one of these where pretty much nothing was standard. I don't think it matters. If you have a cobra, just get it on the track any way you can and enjoy it. It's now a rare car and let's be honest even rarer to see one at a race meeting.

I was racing mine, as shown, up until the end of about 2010. But it might re-appear in mid-motor form, although the back end will be Team-C.

Well said Ade.

I reckon we all ought to have a look at doing this Cobra-Fest thing
sometime/somewhere over this summer.

Because I'm just not good enough at driving these days and can't do the thing justice.

I get more fun out of making and modifying than I do actually racing.

It's an age thing.

I know what you mean mate,us old codgers in our 50's were building,
tweaking and racing these things when a lot of these young 'erberts
were twiddling about on their tricycles: lol:

The blighters will have to do us a veterans heat

If anyone wants to know,I'm 54 and started racing when I was 27.

Now,next question.
What old skool steering servo that's compatible with 27 Mhz sets has the
most travel?
Presently using a Futaba S-148 with a Kimbro stylee 'saver and I'm only
getting about 2/3rd of available lock either way

And yes Ade,the steering rack is back 6mm so that the steering arms are parallel to the lower susser arms.......

More travel... Could try a larger servo saver with more throw. I use a Savox servo and no servo saver myself. As far as a faster driver needed, well I don't think you need to be fast. Just use it and have fun because that's all that really matters. Let's arrange a cobra fest and I'll have a go for you.

Thought of using a longer servo arm and no saver, but apart from the
risk of busting the servo,it's going to be a struggle unless I lose the fancy
front brace jobbie

Here's a side on shot:

Here's the steering lock.

Manual,i.e moving the servo by hand to max travel either way:

Pretty acceptable I'd say.

Now,here's what I get with the servo moved under power by the Tx stick:

See whay I was asking about a servo with more travel?

It looks like a tamiya servo saver. They don't have much travel tbh. I think that isn't helping you.

Y'know,I think it is a Tam. 'saver that came with the Boomerang all those years ago.

Adjust it on the handset laddie!!!.

My RX/Tx rig is a Futaba Attack R 27Mhz that I bought all those years ago
when I bought the Boomerang.

Longer 'saver or soivo arm and a redesign of the front brace methinks
