B44.3 gear diffs feel to tight
Have built up my new 44.3 kit and the gear diffs feel real tight using the standard 5k diff oil.
Is the normal? Should I try try using 2 shims on each out drive to losen thing up. Only experience I have had of gear diffs was the dex410 and they were a lot looser that these seem to be. |

Hi John
No they should not be tight. Bring it tomorrow and I will take a look for you. Fergus's .3 was fine but I did hear a few early kits had badly machined gears. |

I found that the manual's suggestion of 2 internal shims and 2 shims external was too much. I settled on 2 shims internal just behind the larger internal diff gear and then 1 shim externally between the differential cup and outdrive just right

i was having problems with my b5 gear diff. then realised i had over filled it, and its all good now.
my 44.3 gear diffs are as i would expect - not too tight. |
