I don't think .1 or .2 of a mm will stop it fitting in our Cars. i think i'd be pretty annoyed having spent x thousands getting out there only to find i need to spend a couple of hundred more on new batteries which could still be illegal! :/

bigger size = more capacity, we have had this before cars had to be made bigger where bat fits. i have done the job with paul for years at meetings i am sure all the makers that have failed will be told to get there act together.
take the batts back to where they where bought and get your money back, all the makers know what the sizes are,as i said it is a max size they will have to make them smaller.

as racers it is up to us to make sure our equipment is legal, it is in the rules for the races

Here is a thought without insight in the actual matter:
You can have an approved LiPo cell in its hard case swell ever so slightly that it is not visible to the naked eye or noticeable when carging/discharging but to a precise caliper. I am open to that posibility.

And yes, I assume the organizers have a proper caliper and not some cheap plastic crap.

Hmm ok I see were you are comming from, so were these batterys smaller when 1st homoligated (errm spelling) so within the limit with ease, then the makers have tried to be a bit sneeky and make them bigger,
Or, are the batterys supplied to be homoligated new, never run in anger,thus when used a few times,poss swelled a little due to heat during rapid discharge. Then tested this accuratly fail as the plastic case has swelled ?

I ask as with thought I did notice this weekend that a brand new battery I used this wekend did feel a very little bit fatter after a couple of runs

it is only at euros and worlds you have to bother we are alot more easy going at nationals, i know that some manufactures do not do any quality control. one motor company had a arm for a brushed motor that they where told had a 25% chance of being illegal and did nothing about it for 4 years and this with a 2.3mm tolerance.

Good going Tamiya boys!

On lipo's, I'm doubly frustrated, firstly as no manufacturer/distributor(?) bothered homologating any lower capacity saddle packs (it's been a pain at times to find cells to comfortably fit my car), and secondly then finding that because all the homologated cells are right on the limit, any slight swelling takes them over. I have 2 packs bought especially for the worlds which aren't useable, not sure they can be returned though, as thu can claim small swelling is down to use!?

The bit I don't get at all though is if you check the list some of the sample cells were over 25.1mm, I'd have thought they would have been refused homologation!?
