Default 4200's venting

Got some 1 run only 4200's off ebay and when i cycled them last night they vented leaving some nice stains on the paper below them... Do i need to worry about it?

They didnt do it this morning when i discharged them a little then repeaked them and the temp gun says they are reaching about 57C each cell which i read on SMC's site is about right..

Charging them on an eagle CDC at 6amps and the peak detect is 5mv (per cell)

drop the peak detect to 3mV per cell (18mV per 6pack) and drop the charge rate down to 5 or 5.5 amps, if they are still venting, I would think they have been used a few times and not the once.

When I got my brand new ib3800's they vented.
All three packs. They ran ok for about 4 meetings and now the ir's went way up. If I let them set to long they vent again. I charge them on a compatition electronics turbo 35 gfx 5 amps with a low vc. I'm not liking the ib cells much. I think I will stick to GP's.

I read that some of these high capacity cells are really SUPER AMAZING for the first few charges then rapidly die, if thats true then its a really bad thing for the sport.

Well they were superb in the street before, with the brushless in the bj4 so we'll see how they go..

My IB3800's are lacking a bit now, after a few months, probably due to never being equalised (I know!!! i just havent got round to buying a tray yet!!!) but do go well on the second run. But my gp3700's are still going strong.

I have read and been told the latest 4200 cells dont like equalizing or at least should be charged right after equalizing. I used some of the latest 4200's at the euros craig and youre right, superb doesn't even come close, my bj4 would wheelie on command.

My Demon 42's are still as good as they were at the start of the season so far, one pack has vented a bit on discharge but it's still as good as the rest :bom:

good to hear richard, I have just heard a lot of stories about the latest high capacity cells venting, not really any particular brand either.

Ive had some vent, but they still work just as well as the others. I dropped the peak detect, cant remember what to but will check soon.
Personally i wouldnt worry about it.

I usea my cells, take them out of the car and stick them in a box, then discharge and tray them before charging, I don't see the point of traying them after use.
