DB02 Leonis
Picked this one up from Stella for our daughters B'day! She was very happy. Should be an interesting build and a good car to get her to learn racing with. She was happy to meet Jimmy and Vicky at St Ives last year too!
I'll be happy post some build pictures as we progress.

Build Pictures
The 'Leonis' was an interesting build. The centre gearbox is probably one of the most technical gear boxes I've ever had to build for a 1/10th Off Road buggy. It is very unique. Further, I added the optional slipper clutch as this car will see some racing and 'big' jumps.
However now that it is built, the 'on the table' tests as a roller provides some interesting analysis. The car will definitely require the optional universal shafts in both the front and rear suspension. The dog-bone set up includes o-rings in the diff housing drive cups to keep the dog bones in place. The result is they bind up the suspension travel, a lot! Thus the universals will be ordered very soon along with the metal drive cups for the drive shafts between the gear boxes. As the car is for my daughter to learn and race with, the CVA shocks wont be replaced for a while yet. The front gear box is identical to the 502X however the rear gearbox has a different housing halves to the 502X as to obtain the angle so the drive shaft sits over the battery.

Nice car! lots of fun will give you!
How about the electronics for it? Universal shafts are required. You can buy the WO Universal Shafts (#54118 & #54119) for the 502x and put the 502x ones to the DB02 I see the rear suspension mount is in plastic. Could be interesting to buy the aluminum one (#54441) or protect it as I do (for example photo 1 & photo 2) if big jumps are wanted (I broke one in a short jump in my 502x and loose the suspension ball and the spacer...). Hope we will see the Leonis in the track soon! |

That said the LRP and Reedy combination in the 502X is awesome, but this is a beginners car, on a budget. The radio will likely be an entry level Sanwa/Airtronics.

Any mods Jimmy?
I've ordered universals front and rear (suspension) and metal drive cups (inner driveshafts). May even need to get the universals for front rear centre driveshafts where they enter the gear boxes. 502X ones wont fit With all those mods in place it should be as bullet proof as a 502X

Thats a shame Jimmy, it's such a cool design, unlike tamiya to design a unreliable car.
The Durga was a fantastic car from what iv seen, a great beginners car and capable race car too. Iv been looking at the Db02 on line and all the hop ups, could have saved me some dosh! |

Progress on DB-02
Here it is all painted up. I've also installed some hop up options on the centre drive shafts, the universal system, similar to 502X upgrade. Still waiting on universals to replace dog bones in the suspension arms? They were ordered before the centre drive shafts?
I've also installed a 'Team Powers' ESC and 17.5T motor combo from Stella for a huge $72.00 (bargain). Was very well packed and presented. Will be interesting to see how it goes soon. I just need to order a new radio unit and a servo.
