Default Racing at York-Reminder

There is no racing at York this Saturday 1st November due to Half-term school
holidays. We resume on 8th November with round 2 of 2wd Championships.
You have another week to get your your cars ready

I'm more than sure that there will be a 17.5 class next saturday

There are always the following classes each week:-

17.5 Blinky (4wd)
540 Sealed Can (2wd)
2wd Modified Motor
4wd Modified Motor

All that's different is that it could be a champ points scoring night for one or more class (but anyone can enter)

oh, and Short Course is once a month (but the other classes still run)

Hope this helps

Just remember to turn up early and help build the track

thanks very much

sorry to be a bit thick but what's a 540 sealed can motor (2wd) please? My motors are a 17.5t speed passion and an 8.5t speed passion which I guess is classed as 2wd modified for future racing?

540 sealed can is a brushed, sealed can (non adjustable, or stripable) motor, usually a Saturn 20t. It's the "starter" class for 2wd. Originally raced with 17.5 blinky in either 2 or 4wd, but 4wd, 17.5 and lipo out classed 2wd, 20t sealed can so the classes were split. I believe you can run a 2wd 17.5 blinky, but all 4wd must run in that class, not the sealed can class.
8.5 is def modified. Anything other than the above falls under modified, even a 13.5 blinky.

Read more about 540 Sealed Can (2wd) Racing here and here as featured in Radio Race Car

It's very close racing which is great!

I can never decide which cars to run, so I think I'll do 2 classes next time one of them being 540 sealed can

ok cheers guys - I guess this is where the need for 'multiple' cars comes into play rather than faffing about removing motors in and out of them lol

Personally I'd put a 540/17.5 in whatever car you run and stick with that for the foreseeable future or until you can pick up a second class car for the right price. Most people who do 2 classes run 2wd and 4wd - there's only Brett (and maybe 1 or 2 others) who split between modified and "stock"!

yeah cheers col - that's what I am going to do, I have a 17.5t motor I got from alex in my bmax2 now as I put it in to replace my 8.5t motor until I get better at handling/racing the car once I get better with experience I will put the 8.5t back in and then race in the modified class

once I have some spare cash I am going to get a 4wd buggy and 4wd short course as I also have a 2wd sct which I am lovin

Hi Mate

Yeah, don't listen to me I'm a bit of an odd ball

The best thing about York is that it's on virtually every week and every class gets a good turn out.

Just come racing with the rest of us and you'll soon find right at home.
