Default Wheel balancer!

I had some spare time so decided to make myself a wheel balancing device. Tell me what you think

Thanks for your time,

Ben

How does it work? How do you actually 'balance' the wheel? This is not a scarcastic question.

You spin the wheel round then slowly back and forwards till the heaviest part of the wheel is at the bottom. Then you place ballast gum shizz on the top. Repeat till it is balanced. b.a.l.a.n.c.e.d

Ballast gum ? Show's how much I know. I like it. I bet off-road tyres need loads of ballancing, especially if not well glued and all that.

Spence .... i should of really took a photo of the step before i took that one. What the wheel sits on is a B4 rear stub axle which has 3 bearings sitting inside the alloy bar. (machined on a lathe) So the rear wheels sit on the axle and the axle spins
Front wheels are simple. I thought it would be a good idea to use the standard sized associated wheel bearings so that you can use the front wheels with their bearings in.

Ive got some idea's for a MK2 version. I could maybe make a small batch if people were interested at a decent price... Ive seen some for 35 frickin quid!!

Thanks ben

Nice idea - Just a shame it won't work properly.

It will work for ensuring static balance of the wheel, but will tell you diddly squat about the dynamic balance of the wheel which is more critical.

There is a reason why full size tyre balancers don't work on this principle.

nice way to shoot the young lad down he'll know that seen as his dad runs an excellent specialist business in alloy wheel repairs! Don't think the more critical concept matters as much in rc racing seen as the wheels weigh so little and wouldn't make a huge difference compaired to real scale cars!
