Default 1/8th?

Just wondered this since first time I saw the track but haven't the guys in charge considered allowing 1/8th scale to the track? This would bring more people to the track, the size is adequate and can't see why it wouldn't be worth doing unless the fact it's nitro etc etc could ruin the astro?

Just wondered if it have ever being mentioned, rog, stu?

I would guess that a heavy car landing upside down with alloy towers might tear the astro.

It is also quite dangerous to marshal them because last time we ran 1/8th at Bury i'm sure somebody got their shin bone chipped when on hit them in the leg.

Carn't see it with houses being reasonably close plus with Bury having a brand new track i think 8th would do more harm than good

Don't say that you were also thinking of getting a 1/8th!

Officially we can't have nitros due to the noise. A few used to bash on the old track, but thats quite different from a 6 hr racing meeting with dozens of them all at the same time.

Electric 1/8th is permitted, and we have had them at the old track. Matt, Buds, Johnny and Jony Nitro all had them, but there were a few issues:

1) Marshalling. Those things are big and heavy. Its dangerous marshalling them. Given the number of kids at our track, 1/8ths introduce safety concerns

2) Numbers. They really have be run in their own heat, or at most with the SC Trucks. The size and weight means that mixing it with 1/10ths just caused breakages to the 1/10ths. That means 4-5 minimum are needed.

3) Interest. All the people who raced 1/8th with us also had 1/10ths. It generated exactly no new interest - all it did was detract from 1/10th.

No just thought about the bigger picture, spent over £1200 on the Durango couldn't afford an 8th
