Cat 2000 revival
Hi guys !!!
To race in 4wd local races, with the Ynot in 2WD class, I wanted to find something different than the modern cars. I had a look on the TTech predator I loved so much . But at the end, I choose to work on my old Schumacher cat 2000 EC to increase his performance. So, I let you discover the car as I have it today : What I like so much with the Cat 2000 EC is the laydown shocks wich gives to the car a real racing look... So, I will go to search parts like body, undertray, belts, etc... So if you have any idea , feel free to say it here or by PM |

I know it might not be that helpful but I do have some random bits off one of these at home,
I snapped the front diff housing and top deck but stilk have chassis and some sus arms, shock and random bits which you could use as spares if you want, Got two shells also, both been painted but look quite nice, Might be some use to you, pm me for more details/photos, |

I have a Cat2000 EC project on the go also, initially I wanted a Yz10 but the rariety and cost of spares made the Cat more sense for actually racing.
Schumacher still list a Cat2000 shell but not sure if it's the EC version or not? However you can get a Cat2000 EC shell, undertray and wing from Team Blue Groove in ebay (they are based in Canada). The belts are still available somewhere I think too? Most cost effective route parts wise is another roller usually (£60-100 ish) Good luck, great to see another Cat2000 ec still racing. |

For drive belts try a local bearing shop, toothed belts are a standard engineering component and as long as you know the number of teeth and dimensions they should be able to help.

Thank guys...
This morning, I have bought a complete body kit with undertray and wing coming from canada. I guess it's the company you said, southern racer... Well, finally, it's look like all parts can be found almost easely and that sounds very good for the racing future... |

So, with the help of some internet friends, I can say it's a Cat 2000 SE from 1997 !!!
--> Not so bad for 17 years old... So now, how can I modernise it without changing his ADN... For me, this generation of Cat 2000 (EC/SE/98) had 3 caractéristics which should be saved : A/ Laydown suspensions which gives to the car a fantastic look and his efficiency D/ Not straight transmission which is a real curiosity... N/ Body and undertray and wing which gives to the car his smooth and low look. For the rest, I'm free to change... And that's what I'm thinking... I could let the weight repartition and buy some saddle battery but it's not "light is right" and I have no money to buy them so... I keep my shorty batteries used on my Ynot FF buggy and I see how it can help for a good weight repartition... Here what it can be : I hope it will be good... |
