Default Small Bore vs Big Bore shocks....

I have noticed some high profile drivers in a few different teams using small bore shocks on their cars (when big bore's are std on the latest spec car)

Whats the reasoning behind this??

How do the two style of shocks differ in handling/feel??

Is it a response thing??

IMHO, it's a setup thing, Big bores are still rather new on 1/10th offroad and the cars are rather light so these are hard to setup properly.

On small bores, the right pistons are well known and working fine. On big bores it's hard to find the good number of holes and size.
On the track, the car feels more agile and nervous with smallbores, they seems to react faster.
On the other hand, big bores seems more comfortable to drive around the track with less chassis movement but are a bit slow to react, the car is a bit sluggish.

On dirt it should be a good point for BB, and SB could be better on high grip carpet for quicker reaction time.

I'm just starting setups on my new Vega RB5WC long and it will be a major setup work this year to fine tune the big bores properly.

Thanks for the feedback Tom.

Been looking at a few oople reports and a bit on Durango's site and Rctech

Seen 210's with small bores in the US

Jorn runs the Small bore at Dhi cup

Schumacher drivers trying SB Cat SX shocks indoors

Maybe indoors SB and outdoors BB?? Could this be the new trend??

Maybe a medium bore shock like Team C have in their brochure is the answer??
