yep, like carl says, test on a waste part of the shell. if there isn't any, use your fingernail or such to lift a bit in the window area. then just put a little bit of tape over it.

Cheers Carl... I got 4 coats on and have removed a bit as you suggested... it came away fine I think... How do you usually get it started when removing the LM..? The bit I took off was still a bit floppy/soft...

edit: Thanks Jon...

it is a flexible coating, it doesn't go hard/rigid like card or something

Now we are getting somewhere... on with the paint! Window frames 1st... using straight from the bottle Createx opaque @28psi, needle 2 1/2 turns open and it seems ok... this is easy(liar) 3 coats later 'n it's dark enough now... OK brush cleaned and recharged for headlights 2:1 white/black mix... ... o-oh.. water jus' splatted out the brush... what shall I do..!!?? Too late I'm gonna carry on regardless!

Clean brush and on with some dk.Blue @28psi, needle 3 1/2 turns open 'cos I'll be here all day otherwise!! Another water splat... WTH? check moisture trap but it's dry... carry on... no more water splats... what was that? 3 coats again...

I am physically & mentally drained, how do you guys do it?? 2 more colours 2mro if my nerves can stand it!!!

looks like yer getting on well buddy.
the water splat, sounds like it's happening after you clean yer brush ready for the next color? get some paper towel in the cup and dry it out. give it a good shake while spraying air to get any water out and dry it again.
other thing, sometimes water or paint can drip down the cup and sneak down the underside of the barrel/body. then when it gets near the end of the brush/nozzle and catches the air...blam! paint or water splat on yer work. so keep an eye out for that also.

Ah, is that running down the outside of the gun and not internal? I'll make sure everything is bone dry from now on..!

Thank you Obi Wan...

OK time to get busy... pull that mask off and hit it with light blue 1st... 4:1 white:dk.blue... 30psi, 2 3/4 turns open... a few little bits to do next... rear lights, number plate recess, tail pipes and a repair to the rear screen frame(oops..)! REET! now lashings of white... off with the mask(which I must say, is absolutely fabbie stuff!) and 30psi, 4 turns open(oooh..) I'm jus' gonna treat it like a backing coat here.. bish bosh wallop and it's on... OMG what's it gonna look like? Just gotta peek under the overspray film...

As I suspected, my knife work needs practice! Ah well, on with the show... I'm gonna leave it now for a day or two then drop some plasti-kote clear over the white a' la JM... Oh, I guess I'd better cut it out too!

BTW, do you like my state of the art spray facility? Top lighting and fume extraction...! can't be bad..! (The wife was out BTW..)

Default c'est fini

Ta-daa... here it is all mounted up and looking chirpy... I'm happy for a first attempt with the AB, I still need to hone a few skills that's a fact... I have learnt a fair bit here and I am looking forward to doing another, so can't be all bad... Liquid mask is the future for me...

The plasti-k*te clear on the windows is a bit heavy...

But even then, in the flesh it is not that obvious...

Hope you guys see it objectively... it is a first attempt...

Any comments to be taken on board? (Don't be too cruel tho'..!)

Great job Mart!

You are supposed to seal the shell first, then remove the window masks, leaving crystal clear windows

The clear looked fine on the windows at first coat, but then I put another layer on... ho-hum, lesson learnt..!
