All of my TRF 211 conversion parts came in today.. Going to build it up and see if it works better than the XMW chassis.. I can already tell that it's going to be very light ... So that might help

Is it possible to use shorty pack sideways with the new chassis? I'm thinking modding xmw to do that.

I dont think so. This is the problem with this chassis. The Tamiya Vega Gen2 is what this buggy is originally based off. The beauty of the Vega is it has 5 lipo positions. The main one was saddle side by side across the chassis. This is the XMW and possibly 211 xm down fall. The XMW needed the lipos across the chassis.

Wonder what will be in that conversion set? Everything to convert a standard 201, or just update the XMW?

Quite frankly my XM would have been better than the XMW and 211 on carpet if only it had a gear diff due to more forward weight bias. I drove a Schumacher KF2 on carpet the other day, it was impressive! the motor is quite forward.

Shall wait for conversion kit release and decide if I really need another new 2wd kit from the big T.

TBH, i found the XMW horrible on carpet with a gear diff. Very unpredictable, with a ball diff the car was very stable, just wished id have stuck with mine for a while longer and experimented more before going to the YZ2.

The 211 conversion has the chassis, rear braces and lipo holders, shock tower and waterfall brace IIRC.

Would be awesome to see somebody do a homebrew low CG tranny for one TBH.

Yes.... but it raises the battery way too much and you would have to trim some of the side supports.. which would weaken the new chassis significantly..

Default Pulled the trigger!!

I've been a fan of Tamiya for many years, giving me great results in TC's over the years.

I ran Tamiya 4WD before but never in 2WD. Now I've pulled the trigger and can't wait to run the 211XM in anger

I'll try and share a build blog under a new thread over the next few days, but for now a few photo's of the much hyped chassis

Thumbs up High Grip/Low grip this chassis works!

Well got the new chassis mounted up with a few other goodies and was able to get about 4 packs on the new chassis.... very interesting how this chassis changed the way the car handles over the 201xmw..

Pro's
*light weight. lost almost 20g over the XMW set up and that's with the brass rear mount
*it jumps better than the XMW... even with the same set up on the car as I had with the XMW
*love the new waterfall/battery brace!! tightened up the area where the XMW had a lot of flex..
*seems to get a lot more traction than the previous alloy chassis... almost makes you want to push the car even more..
*Set ups will be close to what they were with the XMW... but I have found that the car like to have a little softer spring in the rear.. ended up going to a red spring in the rear ... but I think I'll be going up a half weight in oil to increase pack..
*if you going to just by the chassis then it's a great upgrade for XMW users that will not hurt your pocket book too much

Con's
*can't get over the white chassis... it's just ugly!! and collects dirt like no other! ( Just think wearing White pants to a BBQ place and trying to keep them clean ) this car screams for a chassis protector!!
*people still ask you if your running a Frog, Hornet, Fox ...ect ect

Whats this chassis like to dril and countersink? Thinking those blue battery stops should have a shorty placement?

No, I dont.
You can run the arms in either direction. This is the set up i used on the 201xmw, and reckon its a good starting point for the new car.
Worked well on astro, though on dirt they are best in the direction shown in the manual.
I know this is a different chassis, but the idea being start with a set up you know worked on a similar car.
