Default Kyosho Inferno Race spec q?

Bought one of these today, and it comes with the new digitial controller.

My question is that it takes off quickly, but feels strangled at bit flat out, like it has more to give.....is this a gearing issue, or a I missing something on the controller to "Turn it up a bit"

It's almost like 80% of throttle, and it just needs unleashed.

Cheers.

I'd be interested to find out how you get on with this.

I bought the standard ve that came with a 27mhz radio, but never used the radio. I use my 2.4 system instead. Found I had the same problem as you so I sent the esc and motor back to kyosho. I recived it back 1 month later with a note saying no fault found. Ran it again only to find that it was still running slow. I should try it with the orignal radio but i really don't want to use it as it's a wheel type. I just changed the esc and motor to another that I had.

Please let me know how you get on!

if you have changed the controller did you reset the ESC too the controllers end points and centre?

does sound like gearing if it takes off fast then runs out at top end, what pinion spur are you running? (assuming its either 32dp or mod1)

what sort of temperatures are you getting out of the motor, if its running cool try getting a bigger pinion too raise the top speed a bit, just make sure the motor does not get too hot (if you cant keep your finger on it then its too hot )

also what battery spec are you using......1/8th electric has alot of variables unlike the 10th side, try using a more powerful battery 4S?

Well my ve came with a mod1 pinion with 12 teeth so I tried a 13 without seeing big gains. temps rose abit so I did not want to try a 14t.

I have good battries - 2 2s @6500 65-130c

The problem is that with the vortex 8 esc, you can not calibrate it to your radio to set the end points. the manual says that it does it automaticly.
There are no buttons on it what so ever. I've never seen a esc like it before!

If anyone can help please post! I've read reviews on this kit where people
have said how quick it was out of the box!

My friend has one, he said it was slower than my Xerun 150A 2250KV system with 15t pinion.

I noticed they use Orion ESC and Motor, the Motor is 2050Kv and uses a 12/13t pinion iirc.

I think you should be able to run 15t atleast on that system. Another thing i noticed was that they used quite thin wire from the ESC to Motor.

Out the box the car has loads of acceleration and reaches top speed quickly,
You can gear a little higher and change settings with the DSB.

Geared it too a 15.....much much better.

Still very fast on take off, and feels a little more "Let loose" high up.

Engine temps were a lot cooler than I thought it was going to be. (I could hand hold it....it was hot but I didn't have to shake it off)

Cheers guys....I think problem for me at least solved
