Sounds amazing Chris - like your style

New front suspension arms are much improved.

Schumacher Racing have some interesting new development parts on their 4WD cars - sadly the new 2WD was swiftly taken away after some secret testing at the nearby RHR race track facility and won't be run this weekend. We were told by a little birdie that it's as unique as the CAT SX was when it was released.
The big bore dampers are the 'biggest thing' on the cars - and only the top team drivers had the chance to run them this weekend, with only three sets in existence it was a bit of an exclusive club. The dampers are large - possibly not as monstrously humongous as the Yokomo big bores, but maybe that's not a bad thing.
All the springs for the new dampers are black - but helpfully have the weights etched into the top shoulder. The springs are tapered toward the bottom to clear the suspension arms.
The team also have some new suspension arms to test out - and our man Graham 'blitzboy' Smith was one of the few drivers with them, and is sure to give them a thorough strength testing!

highlited in bold!!!! my yokomo shocks dont hit the lower arm and neither do the yokomo big bore as they use the same springs and retainers like i said it seems a bit of a bodge.

Hows it a bodge? I simply don't understand your point?

Since when did the Yokomo big bores use the same spring and retainer? Do you actually have any or are you trying to prove a flawed point?

i dont get the bodge either.

Surely it would be cheaper to put longer ball studs on the wishbones and shock tower to get the clearance, rather than design a tapered spring?

because the springs dont fit the car without being taperd as soon as you change spring diameters it changes the spring tension why cant they simply mould a stand off on the lower arm and use bigger spring retainer and have a true linier spring dony get me wrong im not slatting what they have done just a mere obviouse thought.

Don't get 'bodge' from the perspective that there's no 'bodge' to get? Or are you of a similar mind set?

Longer screws - ? The closer the shocks are to the wishbones / tower the better. Otherwise - you use the shocks as a bumper, you bend screws, you smash wishbone mounting holes. Using longer screws is a bodge if there ever was one - designing a tapered spring is a smart move, the opposite of a 'bodge' if you ask me.

No idea what your point is tbh - these are new shocks and new springs. They DO fit the car as you can see? I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm sure they could have made them so they didn't fit and then had to also redesign the entire suspension and drivetrain - but that seems a little silly.

i stand corrected yokomo big bores springs are diferent

ok let me re fraise this what is the point of putting a taper on the springs and changing the liner profile the spring for the sake of a larger spring retainer and a small amount of plastic moulding on the lower arm no longer screw.

Ok, turn it around - why do all that instead of tapering the spring?
Seems like a clever idea to me and I can see absolutely no down sides at all!

except the liner quality of the spring under compresion.

which means when the spring is compressed it compreses at the same tension until the coils become closed which is a major part of how a spring works dont you think

theres more than just liner type spring, theres rising rate and progressive which all have uses and may be the taper is there for more than just your wild guess at missing the wishbone,

yes you are correct but it was not a wild guess about missing the wishbones it clearly says it on the write up obove the pictures so from the information given a linier spring would be the more likly.

Yeh, but that's just what Jimmy wrote, and he's not the designer so who know's. In fact he's a bit mad really, and could easily have written - "The spring tapers so that it has more clearance to jelly when racing on that surface." Would that be true also
