Lol

Well what I see is the 4wd guys seem a bit madder and just drive over everything.

2wd seem a bit more laid back.

That being said, I know guys who race both, and could probably beat a 4wd in there 2wd,

I'm crap with both, although I do seem to get a better lap in 2 wd
Try it it's fun

I think the difference is really pronounced on low bite. There you can see 2WD has a focus on consistent driving coming first, and finding the edge with pushing second. In other words, first you make sure you clear the jumps and don't spin out (that gets you from say an F final to a C final), then you find ways to become quicker (which gets you from a C final to an A final).

In contrast, in 4WD cars will (usually) not have trouble clearing jumps and won't spin out as easily. So much traction begs for an agressive driving style. I've not raced 4WDs more than a few laps, so I can't say how much a difference it makes driving consistently or finding more pace like 2WD (And my view on 4WD may be very much biased as a 2WD driver): I think 4WD puts way less focus on how to clear jumps and drive neatly from the get-go, so people experience it as easier to drive (though the potential power you can unleash may pose the problem of one underestimating the impact of making really clean laps, or when indoors, keeping the car intact)

...and every reply is whichever car they personally own or want to buy, or what they are trying to sell.

No car is 'best', just like no car is the best 2wd. You have to choose what is best for you, and the best for you is usually whichever one you can get spares and advice for the easiest.

For someone inexperienced with them the best car is usually whatever is popular at your local club, so you have plenty of people to ask for setup advice.

I'm lucky to have both 4wd and 2wd cars. I enjoy both cars as they are very different to drive and require a different style. The 2wd requires a good set up and knowing how change the car to suit your driving style, its a rewarding drive for sure. The 4wd is easiear to drive fast and the drive line helps mask a poor set up, I've had both shaft and belt drive types and I'd say the shaft drive is faster but less forging to drive plus it requires more consentration. The belt drive is more forgiving and easiest to drive but does require more maintance and needs a strip down to clean more often.

A 2wd car is simpler to maintain if your time is limited for that sort of thing.
