Printed it on a prusa i3, which is a reprap. Its the bq version which comes as a kit. You can get one for about £450, or you can source the parts yourself for about £350. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the prints.
The software to run it is open source, I use cura to create the g-code, the main 2 are cura and slic3r.(both free) I use rhino to create the models, but I'm going to do the next one in blender which is free, to see if it's usable for this type of stuff. There is also freecad and I've had a play with 123D from autodesk which is basically a polished version of tinkercad and also free and very simple to use. Aiden, of course! Will sort. Mark, the Dremel is a version of the flashforge Dreamer, which has had some very positive reviews, plus you get the support from Dremel, wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of those! Got my first 3d printer on the way as we speak
I have been playing around this weekend with a few programs to create my own files and mess with others from thingverse etc Google sketchup can export to STL only if you have the Pro version and download the extension Tinkercad will export STL files and is very easy to use. Great to get started with but you will quickly find its limited features quite restrictive. But I think this is all for a separate thread |
