Hi, apologies for what are likely some dumb questions.

I haven't raced in years. But would dearly love to get back into it again as I should be getting more free time. I attempted to do this a couple of years back, but it didn't pan out. I'm now more determined!

I think this Winter series is pretty much the closest for me. So I'd like to give it a go for a few rounds.

I assume 2wd and 4wd are buggies only, no trucks?

I also have a few more questions, please point me at a suitable link if it has all been asked before.

-What is the racing format? Last time I raced we used to run 5 min races, is this still the case?

-Do I need hardpack LiPo's to race or is any LiPo ok?

-Transponders. When I last raced you used to collect these from race control and return after the race. I think this isn't the case any longer, but I'm unsure what I need to do.

-Marshaling. I assume that it is still the case to marshal?

-Will I need a competitive buggy/setup to even consider entering, or is there a wide breadth of vehicles and abilities. I'm under no illusion that I will be speedy, but would like to partake for fun.

Many thanks.

Hello
Our race format on Saturdays is 4 x 5min heats followed by 5 minute finals. Hard case lipos are essential. We run 2WD and 4WD 1/10th scale buggies. The majority run 2WD as they require less maintenance.
We run the RC3 decoder so the 2 wire transponders are compatible. There are ones from AMB called 'Harry' which most people use. They are nearly £100 now but there are 2nd hand ones out there. MRT also do transponders which are cheaper but I have not tried using one of these. We do have a loan transponder you could borrow for your first couple of races to save you spending out all at once.
Have a look at the results site www.dmsresults.co.uk to see what cars people run. My advice would be to go or an Associated B6.1 as this works well and there are a large number of racers who use this buggy and could give you advice.
Marshaling is compulsory for the race after your own race unless there is a medical reason for you not being able.
Pop down one Wednesday evening or on one of our Saturday afternoon events and have a look around. We are a friendly bunch :-)
Hope this helps and hope to see you soon at our club.
John
