A great days racing and so much track time some people went home "fatigued" before the event was done!!! You know who you are

First track was great, I really enjoyed that. Less so the second track, a bit too point and squirt for my liking and the tripples didn't work too well that way round IMHO.

Surface was great apart from a couple of tuffty bits here and there that resulted in random offs.

All in all the club should be very proud to have improved the track so much over the last year, can't wait to get back there for the regionals and more than likely will be at a few practice sessions too over the summer.

Richard, the FS was pretty damn dialed by the end of the day. Won the first final and TQ'd and won the 2nd session. I've posted the set-up in the relevent section. Enjoy your holiday an get in touch when you get back and I'll go through the car in detail with you.

I'd just like to thanks to Doug for putting on a GREAT Meeting yesterday, as well as making Newcomers(like me) very welcome to the Ledbury Club
Having the 2 Race Meetings during the Day(4+Final in the Morning & 3+Final in the Afternoon)was fantastic, making it very different to any of the Clubs I've Raced at before. Having 2 different Track Layouts during the day made the Racing evenmore intresting, eventhough I was'nt so keen on the first Layout, as it was far to tricky for 2WD in the Dustbowl section of the Circuit.........the amount of times I had to stop in the middle due to others crashing there, making it almost impossible for me to climb up itThe second Track Layout was awesome though, making the Racing close & Competitive.......it was just unfortunate that I was nursing a poorly Car allday
I'm already looking forward to my next Meeting there!

Regards,

Dean.

Again backing up dean ...A great days racing really opened my eyes to the difference in track surfaces at regionals .. as ive never raced there ..perhaps a better selection of tyres next time for me and better driving skill in the dust

sugestions from the regular guys would be cool on tyres

looking forward to your next meeting

The main one i have used there is ballistic buggy green spikes, they seemed good in the dust too
not sure yet Neil

I ran Ballistic Buggy green mini-spikes in the moring when there was a bit of dampness to the grass, changed to Schumacher yellow mini spikes about noon.

The BBs were a little more forgiving in the soft dirt areas than the yellows but if you modified your line to stay on the packed dirt then the yellows were easier to drive everywhere else.

For regionals in general I would suggest having the following glued up at all times if you can

1)A full set of new (i.e. still sharp edges to the spikes) Yellow mini spikes and BB green mini spikes.

2)A set of each of the the above with the outer row of spikes removed front and rear (can be mixed and matched with the above obviously)

3) A set of each both 1) & 2) with some wear on the spikes (rounded edges) .... obviously 1) & 2) become 3) after a couple of meetings!

4) A set of Schumacher green mini spikes

If you can get to that point you should be able to turn up and get straight on with your days racing.

Agree Rog, I always have a scrubbed, and new set of yellows available, since new ones give SO MUCH MORE grip when the track gets dusty (at the end of the day).

I started the day with abrand new set of Schuey Yellows which were great early on in the morning due, but as the track dried out I found so much grip I started to get roll..!

Quick fix as Roger suggested, i cut the outer ring of spikes off front and rear and found them much more forgiving and i was able to attack the corners again

This was on 4WD by the way, not sure on 2WD

I started shorty off with slightly worn Schuey Green minispikes all round which were ok while the track was covered in dew. As the track surface dried out he started to get grip roll so I changed his tyres to a newer set of Shuey Greens but with slim fronts. These suited his driving style quite well (he improved in every round) so I left them on until the final. For the final I sent him out on worn Yellows with standard 4WD fronts, outside row trimmed front and rear. His time improved again so I left them on for the afternoon. He didn't get the new layout right away and his car was damaged beyond repair in the second round (thanks Ian...) but the Durga seemed pretty planted.

All in all, it was a good day for us, very enjoyable, if a little hectic. 5 qualifiers and a final before lunch is some going!

Well done to the Ledbury club, we will be back for more.
