Default Coming back to off road racing

Hi,

Have just seen this thread and am quite excited about the possibility of racing 1/10-O/R again after about 15 years!

Am racing 1/10 TC at the moment and loving it, just fancy a bit of variety!

I have an old Losi XXX4 (old, but with pretty much zero miles on the clock) which I can hash back together, but I have no idea about setups & tyres!

Where do I begin for a track like yours??

Any help appreciated!!!

Dave

Hi Dave, XXX4 is pretty 'old skool' and (as yet) no-one I know is running one... but try here for a basic grass set up:

Or go to the losi section of Oople and look at the set up threads for the xxx4..

Good luck and maybe see you next practice on tues night.

Hi and Welcome, busy Sunday??

We've had a few old skool Losi's touring around, but not being a Losi officinardo I wouldnt have a clue what one is!

Tyres is easy, Schumacher Yellow Mini Spikes on the rear and cut or staggered ribs on the front.

If we can get enough takers we might end up with a vintage class in the coming months so dont bust a gut to get a new one.... but it would give you more edge and options.

Dave, 'Ignore' Neil.. he's talking 2wd tyres...

So I'd say its shumy minispikes all round (certainly from what I saw of the 4wd heats last tues).
I've got an old losi xxx4 that I'm toying with bringing along too, but currently trying to get my skills up with 2wd...

Think Kristian will be running staggered ribs next week on the front of his Team Associated B44.1

So

Don't be fooled by what these guys are saying, the XXX-4 is the current 4wd for Team Losi, most of the Losi drivers are running this car now, look up Gnarley Old Dog, I'm sure he would be more than happy to help with a set up.
And welcome back to proper racing

Hi Dave,
I know its still the 'current' losi 4wd but its been around now for how many years? - which is where the 'old skool' comment came from... Like I said I've got one, and am not 'dissin' it at all.

I've also heard that the xxx4 can 'struggle' on bumpy tracks... As yet the SHRCCC track hasn't bedded in enough to determine whether it will rut up or not... But I'm very much a 'run what you brung' kinda guy with a smile on my face... So bring it along and have some fun!

Thanks for the replies guys!

I'm def one of those racers that likes to do things the hard way, using the kit that i have rather than just buying what everyone else has!

Will get the car put back together (at the moment all of the running gear is in a hotch-potch losi xxx-s touring car chassis!!) and come down at some point.

Right,

Barring the electrics, the car is all back together and looking quite sharp!

Gonna get it all finished this week, so will def be down on Tuesday night.
But, having not driven off road for years it would be handy for me to get some sort of practice session in.
Is it possible to do this at the track before Tuesday??

Thanks for the advice BTW

Hi,

Yes, the gates and track will open at 6.30pm and racing at 7.00pm.

There is a private practice session booked in for Monday 1 to 3pm which you could join if you wanted to?

Neil
