Not tried the new slipper plates since we cannot see the benefit of these (since the plates really do not get "that" warm that they need ventilation)
but we have tried the new HD slipper "pads" with some interesting results.....

Yep thats the ones.... they seemed to be very good on REALLY high bite tracks, just enough slip without fading, although on slippery tracks very hard to get them to slip "enough" with so much material always in contact. Certainly worth considering on very high bite though.......

I believe that the holes are made to prevent the usual glazing by scratching the pads

The inner surface is dead smooth, no sharp edges to "catch" the pad, plus they are marketed as "vented" by AE and only mentions cooling.

The press release from AE when they came out read
"New from the Factory Team for the B4.1 FT, SC10 FT, T4.1 FT, B44.1 FT and SC10 4×4 are these vented V2 slipper hubs. The vented fan pattern of 1.5mm holes allows for cooling resulting in more consistent slipper performance and has been used by Ryan Cavalieri and Ryan Maifield at the 2011 Reedy Race of Champions and Cactus Classic events. Sold as a pair."

i think it works just like grip on rain tires. the less surface area the more grip. if you had a flat surface with water on it and you laid your hand on it, and moved it across it, it would slide and stop, slide and stop. especially with glazed pads.

with the material removed it greatly reduces this.
