classes?
The father in law wants to take my boys out with the rc cars and they both want to have a crack at club racing, he said he'd quite like to have a go but he needs a car and asked me to find something. Sounds great but obviously there is a budget and class restrictions so what are currently being raced? Is it still 2 and 4wd buggies and short course trucks (2 or 4wd?)? Any motor or battery restrictions? Will probably be putting them all in noob classes.

Currently only 2wd and 4wd buggy are being raced we tried to get a truck class going but it never really took off. Hth James

Hi Carl,
James is absolutely right. We separate out 2 and 4wd and, if there are enough, we have a juniors heat too. The much loved (by me !!!) Short Course heats were great, the epitome of racing and only the best truly thrived at it. Unfortunately numbers didn't reflect that so it dried up after about 6 months. To answer your other questions... Sounds great but obviously there is a budget and class restrictions so what are currently being raced? In 2wd - its an open field really. Schumacher KF2, Serpent, Team C / Absima Evo, etc In 4wd - mainly Xray XB4 Any motor or battery restrictions? None at all. If they want to race at the regional events, which we actively encourage, then they will need to be BRCA homologated but to be honest most stuff is. Will probably be putting them all in noob classes Not a problem, they can join in in heat 1. Its where we all start

Thanks for that. Great information. It sounds nice and friendly.
Will have a chat with the father in law and let him decide what he fancies from a list of suitable cars. I will suggest stuff that get's good reviews at club level. We'll see what he says, 2WD is easy to pick something in budget but it's a handful for a noob, he may want 4WD. Carl.

2wd is alot easier these days 4wd is faster and more to go wrong the way I look at it

Just joined the group. The FiL has been looking at the FTX Vantage brushless RTR (I thought he might being from Yorkshire
 ) this is going to be a fun basher for him to start and to introduce my younger boy to racing (we'll see if he can get his own Team-C Tro later in the year) so it fits the bill to start.I'll probably spend more time trying to get the best out of the Hobao H2 Pro with my eldest. Joined the facebook group as well and the track looks to be much improved now with a really fast and smooth layout. I may even dabble with my Tamiya's (yeah I know but I grew up on them) from time to time. Will use FB from now on. Carl.
