Trakpower V-Balancer - losing connection to LIPO.
So, me and a few racing buddies who all have V-Balancers have begun to notice some strange behaviour.
Sometimes the slightest vibration or movement causes the balancer to lose connection to the LIPO, so it goes off, and the charger cuts out. This is really annoying if you happen to be away for 5 minutes and then come back to find its gone off! I can't find the problem. Nothing seems lose, no wires are obviously damaged, you can wiggle anything you want to try and recreate the problem, and generally it won't happen (although sometimes a good shake does make it happen), but then a gentle knock on the side of the table when, say, putting your car down on it, will make it lose connection??? Anyone else had this issue or know what is wrong and how to fix it. It must be like 2 years old now, but has never been abused in any way other than normal usage. Thanks.

Check the 'spring' of your balancer bullet connectors. They may have lost their spring after 2 years of use?

Thanks for your reply.
Nope they're all suitably tight in their sockets.

Only thing I can suggest is calling TrakPower on 01763 847800 and seeing if they are able to help fella.

Yeah....I emailed them and I'll see what they say I guess.
Funny that Team No Idea had the problem too...and about 3 other guys who I pit with. Will report back if I hear something.

I have this on both my ones and it's the connection somewhere into or out of the big connector that has the small one plug into the back of it. I have now got rid of those, used a proper normal 'corally' with both the current and smaller balance wire into the back of the same thing and not a single problem on either since.

I found the spring around the outside of the bullet didn't loose its spring but it did get dirty between that and the inner part of the bullet.
I pulled the spring off and cleaned them all up. Put back together again and they're fine, for another few months at least. |

I will try but wouldn't be until tomorrow, reading again my explanation is indeed rubbish.
Basically the two wires that come together by plugging connectors into the back of each other before going into the batteries (for both +ive and -ive), these contacts aren't good hence it drops out. So I cut off the standard connectors to bare wires and soldered them both into the back of the same (new) 'corally' male, this then plugs directly into the cells. I'm not sure this explanation is much better than the first to be honest.

You mean the bits that are circled here in my photo, you have directly soldered to a new corally?
If I thought that was the problem with mind I'd do the same, but they're rock solid. I think I've only ever put them in once when they were new and they've never been moved since. I checked to see if they are clean and tight and they are. Hmmmm....no reply from Trakpower yet either.

I can't see the pics in work. My evening plans have changed now though so will try to look later and hopefully put a pic up.
