Servo will only move in one direction
Just starting in the hobby and come across a problem which I'm sure is nothing too difficult to solve. The radio is a Spektrum DX3R pro and the steering servo is a Savox 1251. Problem the servo will only move in one direction when I rotate the steering wheel. If I reverse the servo it still only moves in one direction (Other way) Hope somebody can help
Thanks |

have you checked the steering end points on your transmitter are correct?

Sounds obvious but can you move the servo horn by hand?
If not, the horn could have been mounted at one end of the 'throw' of the servo so wouldn't move any further in that direction... If that's fine its probably a transmitter set up issue. |

Tried both method but still no go
Thanks for the replies
I have checked the end points and they are ok (I think). I can move the servo horn both ways so it is not that. If I reverse the servo on the transmitter the servo will work only in the other direction. So the servo will move to both end points but only one direction at a time. I think it is within the transmitter - but I'm only a beginner!! |

The Savox servo/Spektrum radio combination is notorious for being unpredictable but in most cases installing a power cap in the receiver solves this, if you're sure all your transmitter settings are correct and you've double-checked everything else it may be all you need:
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/etronix-...roducts/368696 TBH it sounds like it could equally be something different but for £4 it's worth a try. Last edited by HOTSHOT III; 15-11-2014 at 12:10 AM. |

take a pic of your steering travel screen and post it. should be starting at 100%/100% for L/R travel for setting up a new servo

Is the receiver plugged in the correct way?
Orange is the signal Red is + Brown is - Can you try another servo on the model channel your on? Try the servo on another model channel

Plug the servo into chan 2 and see if the throttle makes it work both ways. This will tell you if it is the transmitter at fault

Thanks for your interest
No !! Not yet I've tried everything so far. I'm waiting for a power cap to arrive. I still haven't tried another servo. I've not turned the servo plug around the orange wire is going to the signal pin. Is there a possibility that the servo is wired wrong !! what will happen if I reverse the servo plug - will I do any damage. This is what happens - Switch receiver and tranny on and if I rotate the wheel clockwise the servo arm moves one way. rotate anti clockwise - no movement. Reverse the servo on the tranny - rotate the wheel clockwise servo moves in opposite direction. Rotate the wheel anti clockwise - no movement Is the tranny not working?? |

I'm not familiar with this radio, but have just had a quick look at some instructions online. (too much spare time at work!). Have a look at page 28 in the instructions which shows you how to monitor the outputs for throttle/brake and steering channels. Make sure you have movement on the steering graph for clockwise and anti-clockwise movement of the wheel. If you don't, have a look at page 26 and 27 which shows how to re-calibrate the steering and throttle potentiometers, then have a check on the monitor screen again.

Did you swap Sterring for throttle to see if the trigger will make the servo work correctly?
