Default FOR SALE SECTION FEEDBACK

Hey guys - we changed the way the FOR SALE section works a while back to stop people replying (and therefore bumping) to threads, keeping things to PM only. This makes it a whole load easier for us and stops bumping and other issues like arguments or irrelevent posts.

I've had many many emails asking why people have been banned etc - when in fact they didn't realise the change had happened and that's the reason they can't post.

So, what do people think of the way the FOR SALE section is now - not being able to bump / reply. Does it work or does it need changing back....?

I can see the pros and cons both ways, may I suggest try it for a few weeks and then have another vote?

The new system works well i think as it stops people spamming on the thread.

Only 1 point is that people need to update their for sale thread when items are sold. I only say this as ive contacted sellers only to be told its been sold and they havent updated the thread.

Jamie.....

Totally agree with previous comment - very frustrating.

Keep getting contacted as i can not update my items forsale - preferred when we could add comments, drop prices etc

As is, but with the additional pre-requisite, that a photograph of the item being sold is added.

Can the trade part of the forum work slightly different to the main part, i.e, reply posts do not bump the initial post?

mandatory prices! not "offers" when you want top money for things.

you would get people dropping prices by a £1 or saying "oh i forgot it as a extra wheel with it" just to bump it up

I think you're misunderstanding - Once the original post is made, the point at which it goes on the list is where it stays, it doesn't bump regardles of further posts or ammendments.

As you suggest, I could if I wished, post, then create a new post with an amendment an hour or so later to effectively bump my add. That is not what I was suggesting...

I can set the default view of that forum to show latest threads - instead of, as it does now, threads with the newest posts. Though people would still be able to change it if they wanted to on their options.

That sounds like best idea in my opinion, best of both worlds

Jimmy seems to have come good with the correct terminology.... That's exactly what I was suggesting Obviously it won't stop people posting irrelevant stuff, but would be a good compromise in my opinion.
