I think you can use a hobbywing program card and also upload the hobbywing software to the speedo

Wouldn't bother with the Hobbywing 3in1 Multifunction Program Box and as well as a much better interface to program the ESC it also allows you to replace the X-car firmware with Hobbywings own, giving you many more functions.

I have the same ESC - love it! But I use the USB link lead from hobby wing. It's about £3 and lets you upgrade to latest firmware or modified firmware and the programming software is great. You set all your parameters such as turbo settings, timing, reverse, break power, drag break, etc. And the software is free & easy to use.

I know it's less portable so may not be what you're after but I think it's cool that you can plug your laptop into your RC car and change some settings in the pit!

Yeah I've had a couple of these and they're good for the money. Rebadged hobbywing 2.1

And it will run the genuine HW software?

Is anyone making a cheap copy of the HW V3 that will run the HW software?

I recieved mine today, just doing some research on what i can do with it. By the sounds of it you can change the software to hobbywings and then use a hobbywings programme card to make adjustments. I think im going to go down this route if correct

Yeah download the hobbywing software off the hobbyking site. I've only used the usb link.
Don't know about the 3.1 but the skyrc esc are as good as anything, the new ones with aluminium case are much better.

The X-Car is technically not a direct copy of the v2.1, but it certainly uses the same processor and comes with a very early basic version of the Hobbywing software. If I remember correctly you have to go through a couple of firmware versions to get it up to date but it will run Hobbywings v3 software for the XERUN v2.1 ESCs

Had this esc for four months, started cogging towards the end. Funny enough moved onto a used v2.1. Lot more punchy.

I've had mine a year. Cheap as chips, but doesn't seem to respond to changes I make either with the lap top or card.. Well, not that I can tell! My other speeds small changes are noticeable instantly.

I bought two Hobbyking 120a x-car escs for a couple of vintage cars and I've just updated them to V3.0_110930_MOD using the Hobbyking USB dongle job done
